Sorry haven't seen this topic in ages. Well it is meant to be tablespoons but yeah it is a very sweet cake. I would say that if you prefer less sweet cake change the chocolate to dark- I think it's the dairy milk chocolate that makes it so sweet. But I just :lvs dairy milk!!

A few days I reckon- the last time I made it we had it in the fridge for about 4 days and we were still eating it. I'm making mine on the Wed for a Sat wedding.

Chocolate biscuit cake lasts at least a week in the fridge and can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Here's my recipe for chocolate biscuit cake. This recipe will make an 8" square chocolate biscuit cake

Ingredients:
1400g chocolate (use any good quality chocolate) Half and half milk and dark chocolate gives a really rich cake too
400g butter
300g golden syrup
600g digestive biscuits (you can use half and half digestives and rich tea if you want to firmer cake)
200g marshmallows (regular pink and white ones cut in halfs or quarters)

Melt the butter and golden syrup together in a bowl using a microwave on a low heat just check every 30 seconds.
Here is the fun job - break up the chocolate and biscuits into the small pieces.
Add the chocolate to the melted butter/golden syrup and mix well. If necessary, heat again in microwave to ensure all the chocolate has melted.
Add in the crushed biscuits and marshmallows and mix well, ensuring all the biscuits are covered in chocolate.
Line your tin with greaseproof paper. Pour mixture in your 8" tin and pat down well to prevent gaps/airpockets in the cake. Allow to cool and then place in fridge overnight to set.
If the cake gets stuck in the tin, place the tin in a sink with an inch of warm water for ~10 seconds. This should help release the cake.

Oh wow you did a great job well done - looks lovely. I like the shape. Was it much stress? Didn't you say before that it is all fruitcake - so you probably were able to ice it a bit in advance?

It took a few hours so you have to make sure you have scheduled in that time the week before the wedding and have no distractions. It is 100% chocolate biscuit cake inside- we made that on the Thur and iced it on the Fri.

We used saucepans instead of baking tins to give it the rounded edges.

I was going to decorate it with those little edible balls but when I went to buy them the lady in the shop basically convinced me not to, ironic! She just said they're a bit pricey and too fiddly and not worth the effort! So I just left it plain, we were delighted with.
