No toast drink ??

No toast drink ??

Postby skip » Sat Jun 11, 2022 5:02 pm

Hi ladies,

Was wondering what people thought of NOT having a toast drink ??

Were having wine with dinner, but not sure about the toast drink, have mixed opinions from friends. " Cant have a wedding with no toast drink" and "its not expected anymore, if people want something other than wine, they will buy a drink "

Im having, tea, coffee, fruit punch (alcoholic) biscuits and mini scones on arrival. Id say most will head straight to the bar anyway !!

Would love to hear some feedback as to what you are all doing ??

We didnt have one.. I've been to plenty of weddings that havnt had them and I've never thought anything of it.. now its a nice touch if you have the extra cash.

I agree though if people want something other than wine they will head to the bar.

hi skip :wv i had the option of glass and top up of wine during meal or else a free drink for everyone for the toast. am going with the wine. as even the co-rdinator said it was better value with the wine. we dont have the money to add a toast drink in too but i think we'll be having the speeches etc when the wine is flowing so they'll have to toast us with that or else get a drink from the bar unfortunately. dont think many people would be bothered by this and if they were then thats there problem! you cant win them all ;)

Should have said that same as the girls above, we had a glass of wine+a top up, so we felt like everyone had something anyway.

i think wine for everone during the meal is grand, its too expensive these days and like the others said no one really expects it anymore. x :wv

Of the weddings I've been at - its either a toast drink OR wine at the table.... never both.

We had champagne reception on arrival, plenty of wine with the meal and an open toast too. It only cost half of what we had budgeted and we're very glad we did it. It's nice to offer people their drink of choice. If you can afford it I definitely think it's good to do but if you can't then I wouldn't stress over it! I've never been to a wedding that didn't have both wine with the meal and a toast drink but I wouldn't look down my nose if there wasn't a drink - I would just presume it wasn't in the budget!

I don't think people will take much notice whether or not you pay for a round of drinks for the toast. Don't feel pressurized if you can't afford it. We had a wine top up for our toast. O-O

I don't see anything wrong with not having one. We are only having on cause it is included in the hotel's package.

When all is said and done no one is going to remember if they don't have a toast drink so I would put the money to something else

Our toast drink is included in our package. If it wasn't, we would budget for this.
The last wedding I was at didn't do a toast drink and that was fine, it was a huge wedding and would have cost them a small fortune, but we had nothing to drink on our table for the toast-all wine was gone, no water left on the table so it was a bit ridiculous lifting empty glasses to "clink". There was no time to go to the bar-the speeches started immediately :-8
