Marquee Wedding In Roscommon

Marquee Wedding In Roscommon

Postby caoimhi79 » Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:26 pm

Hey there,
I'm getting married in a lovely old house in Roscommon but we're doing a marquee which means a lot of organising. I want to try and keep a lot of the suppliers local or within the neighbouring counties. We also have a tight budget. Could anybody recommend a great caterer in the area that will work with our budget, marquee rental, and nice portaloo rental around Roscommon? Even a wholesale Florist or flower market? Any tips would be much appreciated ...

Hi Caoimhi79,

Im doing the same but in Mayo atm…Same as,our budget is small and its working out crazy already. For 100 people for just the garden hire for the venue, food and the Marquee we are above 10,000.

Im in talks with 2 Marquee companies atm. One is Toons and Balloons and the other is marqueesolutions.ie.I know that both will cover your area.I should have my final quote from the latter this week so il pm you the details.

How many people and what kind of catering?

Im doing all the decor myself and can give you details if you like

hey there,
thanks for these, my boyfriend got a quote from classic marquees in galway for €4000 inc chairs, tables, linings and lighting, which is not too bad... I'd love a vintage style tent like LPM Bohemia but they are crazy expensive! For caterers we're going to have to be imaginative. Lots of sharing food, antipasti and stuff for starters , bbq and salads for mains.. there is a small hotel in roscommon that have to come back to me. Our number is 150 max! The decor will be the most fun part for me!, making pompoms and bunting!, If you check out ruffledblog.com there are some great ideas! I'll pass on any others deals i find in the areas!

HI again,

That quote is substantially higher than the quotes i have received so id check out more options!

Im having a vintage/rustic style wedding and have great ideas too and have bought loadsa stuff already,Have table centrepieces for 12 tables,20 lanterns, pillows, candles and two garden arch trellis for less than 130 euro! If you want any details let me know.

Food is def the most expensive part we have found. Im looking at a company…wildsidecatering.ie,recieved a quote and its pricy but exactly what id like.

Not doing canapes and instead doing a scone/cream and jam reception, with tea and coffee and fruit punch!
Have you checked out onefabday.com too?Its great.

Hiya,
That sounds exactly what i want! Please do pass on any quotes you get because if we can get the marquee down there's more money for food and wine! I checked out wildside too, we really want a hog spit but it might be too much over our budget. Would you mind letting me know what they will be doing for you and how much, because it did sound gorgeous! Can i ask what you are doing about tables chairs and crockery? I've been looking at renting vintage but it might be too expensive... I'd also love wooden fold out chairs and was thinking of decorating the tables with vintage tablecloths...I've been scouring etsy and ebay already!
Thanks for mailing me back, its great to bounce ideas off people who understand what i'm looking for!

Howdy!

Ya great to talk to someone doing the same thing.I got white lanterns from pennys,2 euro each and ive bought bout 20!Got birdcages to fill with flowers for the centrepieces. They are 7.50 from heatons and 36cm in height.Very pretty.Im not bothering hiring anything as i reckon i can get everything.I want lace tablecloths, try second hand shops for those and even try finding lace curtains, does the same job and would be nice mismatched!
As for crockery,i started asking around, relations and friends of the family and ud be suprised how many people want to get rid of stuff.I know between them and fairs and carboot sales etc i should find enough over the next yr.
I would love the wooden fold out chair but couldnt find any.Im using the chivari chair in ivory. Its beautiful and fits the theme. If you need to hire them seperately the cheapest quote i got for 100 of them was from caterhire in castlebar.5.50 each.
With wildside catering i wanted pig and lamb on the spit, bbq prawns,3 salads and 2 potatoes. And a choice of either tian of crab or soup for starters.I have a friend making a cup cake, pavlova and macaroons for a dessert table.
Wildside quoted 30euro per head for the main and 9.50 for crab and 5 for soup!Quite steep but the are the only ones who cook over an actual fire instead of a machine as far as i know and im thinking it might be worth it if i can save elsewhere! Their nighttime food is very expensive. 10 euro per person for refined fish n chips!
They also said that extra costs may include travel, staff and accommodation,And they charge for cutlery and crockery etc…He sent me the full menu with prices. If you want me to email it to you you can pm me ur email.I can send you on any quotes i get and you can do the same if you like?

When are u getting Married?
Its all go now isnt it? :o0

Hi Caoimhi,
We considered the marquee option and it would also have been in Roscommon. However, we changed our minds, due to amount of work involved and costings. We would have used http://www.deliciouscatering.ie/ as our caterer. Based in Galway, but not too far from Roscommon. We live near them and we have used them in the past for a christening. Highly recommend them.
Best of luck with planning the marquee weddings. In the end we have decided to go for a venue where we can have a civil ceremony and then move outdoors for a covered bbq.

Hey there,
Thank you so much for all the tips, i'll definitely look into them..and pass on any I find. I think you 're miles ahead of me in organisation! We're getting married in june next year. I was thinking of getting wholesale flowers from Smithfield market as its way cheaper than a florist...unless anyone knows of a flower market near roscommon?
I've also been looking into pearl and godiva and me auld china for renting vintage crockery but i've no solid quotes yet...
There is an website called dressmyparty.ie and they have gorgeous mexican wedding bunting..and white lanterns..
Thank you for the delicious catering tip, i'll definitely check them out.
I'm only realising exactly how much is involved in a marquee wedding but i still feel its the right thing for us and if we start early hopefully there will be less stress!
thanks again

Hi there,

I am at the very early stages of planning a marquee wedding for 140 in Kilkenny and cannot believe the prices I am looking at. I got a quote of 5,000 for crockery etc..Generally, the quotes I am getting for marquee, flooring and lighting is about 6,000 and then food is upwards on 10,000. They are the basic packages no frills and fairly (to me lacklustre types of tents). Bohemia would be amazing, but seem to be twice the price as the quotes for normal marquees I am getting.

Anyway, I have my heart set on it but we are nearly full circle on our ideas given the prices as in thinking that we might have to go away to get what we want (relaxed party with really good food) which I said I would never do! Anyway, I would love to hear if you are sticking with your plans for marquee weddings and what marquee company you went with and if you went with wildside catering. Their menu is what i would like for the whole garden party feel. Pearl and Godiva crockery would be to die for but reckon I might stocking up in Ikea and guineys instead! x

hey there,
so far, we're still sticking to the marquee, although we haven't got one yet. Marqueesolutions is looking promising but they are based in ballina. If you try and source local marquee people you pay less for travel. Also, if you play them off against each other? Silk road tents is another one to try, a bit like bohemia but a bit cheaper? I got a competitive quote from meauldchina.com for vintage crockery for 150 people, plates, side plates, cups and saucers + delivery and they give discount for quantity.
Then i've started buying second hand platters and turreens etc for serving bits and bobs.
I'm also looking into wholesale flowers from smithfield market.. half the price of a florist..
I think we're going to do a barbeque for food...if you search for barbeque caterers, they seem to be more compeitive than traditional caterers...
for glasses, ikea do 6 champagne, wine glasses for €1.89....
hope these wee bits help..
