Cake tasting do or don't?

Hi wollys,

6 months to our wedding and i'm booking my wedding cake. She is from home and has been making cakes for last few years. Her prices are great and my mum has been to a charity social where she made cupcakes which were apparently gorgeous.

Question:
Is it norm to sample your wedding cakes before booking. I have tasted cakes at wedding fairs etc but do i expect her to make the three cakes for me to have a sample of them before i book?

We samlped ours at a fair, would there be any fair coming up that she may be attending that's nearby and you could sample there?

I make cakes from home and recently had a consultation with a bride I gave her a dozen cupcakes in various flavours and a few slices of chocolate biscuit cake to take away with her to help her decide on the type of cake she wanted. I'm sure if you ask your supplier she would give you some samples.
