choice of soups

Just wondering which do ye think would appeal to more ppl?-leek and potato soup finished with cream and smoked bacon or cream of veg soup topped with herb croutons

Both sound lovely to me.

If you are having a menu printed the first option might be nice as it sounds very fancy and appetizing

love leek and potato but if you have many veggies you will have to do an different one, or leave the bacon off for them just make sure the hotel is okay about this!

I am a lover of soups...but find veg soup a bit plain and generic at weddings. i'd go with the leek and potato in a heartbeat...with/without the bacon.
im sure you could get around the vegetarians - they can just ask for a plain one. i'm sure you'll have an idea of numbers beforehand.

I find when soups are made with one or 2 veggies they are a lot more wholesome and flavoursome.

incidently i'm not having soup at mine. its a summer wedding so going with sorbet!

Defo the leek & potato soup:) Veg Soup is just so " Bog Standard" @ weddings these days...
We will be having Sweet Potato, Chilli & Coconut

Just a note though as it was something I never thought of, make sure the hotel makes it with vegetable stock and not chicken stock if you want it suitable for your vegetarian guests. We had buttternut squash with carrot but my couldn't have any as they made it chicken stock O:|
