Candy Bar before or after the meal

Folks

I am having a candy bar at my wedding and I dont know if I should have it before or after the meal. If we have it before the meal, the hotel will be given any left over sweets to put on the tables later that night. Not to sure what to do to be honest. O:|

I was originally having the same dilemma. We've ow decided to set the buffet up in a corner of the function room so people can help themselves whenever they want.

It just won't be available during the drinks reception.

we had our candy cart wheeled in for when the band came on, so everyone had left the room for it to get ready after the meal and when they came back in it was there it was a nice suprise and everything on it went!! Once people started getting a few drinks in them they taught it was the best thing ever, ther was even a bit of a queue at one stage.

This is one of the most frequent questions we get asked & there is really no definitive answer. In our experience both times work. Some factors to consider include:

FOR THE DRINKS RECEPTION:
Will it be in a public area that non wedding guests may be located?
Do you have other food options such as canapes, scones etc ? Including a Candy Bar might be too much.
On the plus side, it can really add stunning decor and generate a real stylish focal point when your guests arrive. It's a lovely surprise & guests can take a trip down memory lane - so a great icebreaker.
In our experience whatever Candy has not been eaten the Hotels are always very happy to accomadate & out the sweets back out later in the evening.

FOR AFTER DINNER:
People can be peckish later in the evening & a Candy Bar can provide the perfect sugar buzz to keep your guests dancing the night away.

So in essence, it's a very personal decision but either way a CANDY BUFFET will be a fantastic addition to your day. :)

Thanks for that. My other half wants to have scones on arrival at the hotel, as he thinks people will be hungry before the meal so i think if we have the candy bar at the same time it's a bit much. I on the other hand like the idea of it when we arrive and I suppose it's a nice wow factor. However it could be nice at the same time after the meal. Talk about confused
