One main course or main course with option?
Hey guys,
New to this so forgive my ignorance! Myself and my fiance are looking at venues at the moment and we have found one that we really like (Killashee House Hotel). I suppose my question is that to stay without our budget we would have to go with one option for the main course. I've spoken to the wedding co-ordinator and she says that this is been done more often these days but I''m a bit worried that people will think we are being a bit scabby! We are going to ask people if they would like a vegetarian option on invites . Our main course choice would be Chicken as I know a lot of people that don't eat red meat and generally most people eat chicken. Has anyone done this before? Personally if it was me as a guest I wouldn't mind at all as I'd be glad to be getting a free dinner but that might be just me! Looking forward to hearing opinions! Thanks!
Re: One main course or main course with option?
Its quite a new thing to have a choice, so I wouldnt think to much about it, alot of weddings we have been at lately have had 3 courses with no choice as oppossed to 4 or 5 courses with choices which was very much the way 2-5 years ago! Obviously there is the vegetarian option or dietary options which the hotel should provide at no increase cost but these generally dont go on the menu and if your a veggie (like me) you just ask or you could just put special dietary requirements on the Rsvp card so we could give the hotel an idea.
We had a choice on our menu but thats because we had our wedding out of season and were able to get alot of add on's for basically nothing we had alot of scope in that regard. Believe me as long as the food is of good quality no matter how much of it they get, the ceremony is moving and full of love, and the Music is good thats all your guests remember! Re: One main course or main course with option?
We're going with just one option because of budget; at times I have a little panic because it's not the most exciting menu but hell, people are there to celebrate, not be food critics so hopefully it'll go down well. I don't think I'd notice a lack of choice on the menu as long as the food is tasty!
Re: One main course or main course with option?
i only had one main course as i wasnt paying €5 per person for a second choice, we went with turkey and ham. the hotel said they will always have a veg option but wont put it on the menu cos people will think its a second option. they said anyone who is a vegetarian will know to ask.
we had for salmon for starter and no other option as we also had soup and people told me afterwards that they asked for a different option and they were given melon, i didnt even know they had a second option for starter
