Cheese Wedding Cake - as in Goats and Cheddar etc

Hi

My Mam loves her cheese and really wants us to have one of those wedding cakes made from cheese (alongside a normal cake). I see Marks and Spencers do them but I just wondered if anyone could recommend a place near(ish) to carlingford where my reception will be?

what a fantastic idea! i had decided not to have a wedding cake as i think they are a bit of a waste as know one really eats them! But we both loooove our cheeses ( we met at a wine and cheese party...) so definetly going to do this as a surprise ! :o)ll Thanks , yay! Sorry cant be more helpful about somewhere close to you as i live in dublin! best of luck with it !

Hi Watchoka,
we're planning to do this for our wedding too, and got the idea on the M&S website! We're both cheese addicts (which is probably why I won't drop a single kilo before the wedding!).

We think that we'll do it ourselves though, we'll go to maybe our local Superquinn as they have a great selection of cheese and ask them if they can give us a good price if we buy a few full wheels. We're thinking of maybe a large wheel of cheddar, medium wheel of goats cheese or cooleney, and then a small wheel of Cashel Blue. We're planning to put it on the bar after dinner, with a big selection of crackers so guests can nibble away throughout the night! We have to confirm with our venue first though if they're ok with this.

M&S deliver in Ireland now so it might be worth checking out their website.
