Can u bake & freeze a sponge cake?

Hi,

Just wondering if i were to bake a sponge cake can i freeze it? Has anyone done this and does it taste ok afterwards?

You can freeze cake, do you mean just the plain cake unfilled and undecorated? They freeze best that way, however some fillings can be frozen as well. Depends what you want to do with it when you thaw it.

Thanks for that, yep, I meant unfilled and undecorated. My daughters birthday is at weekend and I have the time now to bake but wont really on saturday & sunday. I was hoping to make it this evening or tomorrow evening and thaw it saturday night and decorate sunday morning! Any foolproof plain sponge recipes? This wil be my first attempt at the like of it :-8
