I was thinking 2 red and 2 white per table of 10. Not sure though.

Hi Girls,
The best way to estimate wine requirements is a half bottle approx. per adult, speaking from experience it will also depend on your choice of main course. I had an almost 50/50 split red/white wine at my wedding 3 weeks ago. I hope this might be of some help to you.

Hi Girls,

I recently asked the hotel, they said you will get 5 glasses of wine per bottle.. so 4 per table should be 2 glasses each person.. I think thats loads... that will end up costing us about €950.00...
Its enough.. they don't do corkage

we have 160 adults at ours so averaging 1 bottle for 2 people is 80 bottles. so to be on the safe side we are having 60 red (which I bought a fab merlot on special in Tescos!!) and 40 white (still trying to get a tester for that job!!) and that should be more than enough! hoping to have some left over for out after party the next day at my bro's house! oh and when its gone - its gone!!

Yep, we're the same, 160 coming (hopefully) and we're going to get around 100 bottles, 60:40, red:white. I have to say theres nothing worse than being at a wedding and having no wine left for the main course! Anyway, if there is some over, it will go to a good home

we are having 200 people approx and was thinking 100 bottles would be loads but there is a good few wine lovers in our crowd so i'm thnking of going for maybe 50 red as opposed to 40 and possibly 70+ white instead of 60. very hard to judge how much of each to get but reckon there will be more white drinkers than red hopefully and i suppose we will use them if they are left over. anyone else in same boat

12 glasses of wine between 10 people doesn't sound like v.much! Theres 4 decent glasses in a bottle. By that equation, for 160 adults we'd only need 48 bottles of wine??? eek We're aiming for 90-100! I don't think the wholesaler was a wine drinker somehow!

I think we are planning one glass per person and 2 top-ups. Budget 1 bottle for 2 people and get 10% extra just in case. It's not the end of the world if you have wine left over. Was at a wedding lately and as people were leaving the next day they were handing out bottles of wine that the hotel had uncorked and not used! Apparently if you are doing your own wine you should appoint soneone to count the corks at the end of the night to ensure that hotel doesn't overcharge you - sounds like overkill to me. Should count the bottles left over instead?......
