Middleton Park House 05th November

Middleton Park House 05th November

Postby Brum » Sun Nov 20, 2021 3:06 pm

Hi Everyone,

Well I thought I'd never get to this point after all the planning and organising. I really wanted to put this report up mainly as a shout out to all the great suppliers that we used for our wedding day, every one of them made the day as great as it was.

Firstly our wedding was in a small church outside Tullamore town and then on to Middleton Park House in Castletown Geoghegan, Co. Westmeath. For our flowers we used Bennie's in Tullamore and Lisa was extremely helpful. All our flowers, particular my bouquet were beautiful and extremely reasonably priced.

For our transport we used Annaharvey Chauffeurs and I have to say they were so helpful. Martin organised the car we wanted at relatively short notice (think it was two or three weeks before the wedding) and when Mark, our driver picked us up on the day the car looked great and he was very friendly and helpful and also extremely punctual. On our journey from church to venue we had a lovely bottle of champagne which really put us in the mood for the reception. I would highly recommend them and they were very reasonable too.

Our venue was Middleton Park House and I have to say they were outstanding. They took care of everything and I really didn't need to worry about anything. I think the only thing I had to do was ring their florist to give her my colours and they did the rest. Our guests were really impressed with the venue and how beautiful it was. The atmosphere is amazing in the house.

The fact that the dining room was separate to the dance area meant that there were no delays between dinner and band as the band set up as we were eating so after dinner we had speeches, straight into cutting the cake and then straight into the first dance. Some of the woollies on here were concerned about people segregating on the day but we didnt find that this was the case at all and having a few different rooms meant that me and DH could catch up with each other for a few minutes without being dragged away by people.

The dining room looked outstanding with the candles and flowers on all the tables and the chair covers, flowers and candelabra were all included in our price which was excellent. The food was another thing that everyone consistently commented on because it really was outstanding, not one person had a bad dinner. My father is vegetarian and the food he got was delicious too which is unusual as vegetarian food at banquets can tend to be bland and generic. We picked the sirloin steak and the chicken dishes and both were equally as good. We were told that the chef they have in Middleton Park really prides himself on doing good quality wedding food that is of superior quality to the norm and I have to say it shows. This quality was also shown in the canapes on arrival and the afters food, delicious. We also had a mulled wine reception and that too was delicious!

When we were planning the wedding we were worried about our photographer because we didn't want to be hounded for loads of photos and wanted to have time with our guests when we arrived. We went with Alan Mooney photography and we couldn't have been happier. He was very friendly and unobtrusive and really listened to what we wanted and didn't charge us the earth either. We haven't seen the pics yet as its only been two weeks but I'm sure they will be great.

We have a little girl and the best money we spent out of the whole wedding was on T from Little Wedding Crechers for minding her for the day. There is no way we could have had the day we did if we didn't have her because our little girl was involved but we didn't have to think about feeds, changing times or crankiness and T had her until 10am the next morning so we didn't have to be conscious of early morning bottles either. I would highly recommend any brides who have children to give T a ring and book her because the peace of mind it give on the day is priceless. She was great with our little girl, is obviously very experienced with children and a pleasure to deal with.

Two other people that our day wouldn't have been the same without were Sandra and Valerie from the Powder Room girls. Sandra did our hair and Valerie did our makeup and all four of us were delighted with the results. They made the preparation that morning very relaxed, there was no rushing, no stress and great results at the end. I didn't want to look like a completely traditional bride and both of the girls really listened to what we all wanted and that's what we got. They are both very talented and again I would highly recommend them, especially if you want something a bit different but I know if you wanted something more traditional they would still get what you want bang on.

So that was it, we had a wonderful day and the sun even shone for the entire day!!

If anyone wants to ask me anything or get more feedback about the suppliers just PM me.

PS I knew Id forget someone in my wedding report but how I forgot the band I dont know!!! We had Pink Champagne and they were fantastic, everyone was on the floor all night and they were lovely to deal with. We didnt see them at all until the evening of the wedding because we couldnt get to any of their showcases so we took a risk only going by internet reviews but they were great and we were very happy so thanks Cathal if you read this!!!

Hi Brum, I love love love your report. Myself and H2B are planning on getting engaged in the coming months when finances are where they need to be. I have been planning our big day in my head for over a year now and your day...... it amazes me to say is what I have in mind for myself. I have loved The Lyn Ashworth Scarlett dress since I laid eyes on it. I know they stock Lyn Ashworth in The White Room in Mullingar but I fear the dress is very expensive? I also have been thinking of the Middleton Park House as it would be within half an hour of our church and seems beautiful but again I dread to know the cost. Could I be bold and ask how much a head you got to book there for? Finally, I love Pink Champagne having been to a friend's wedding where they played. I will definitely book them if they are available on our big day. So basically, I want your big day Brum!! I would love to hear from you regarding the dress and venue. Please feel free to pm me!
