December 2011

Hi Wollie's
Just a quick review of the suppliers that we used for our December wedding.

Hotel- McWilliam Hotel Claremorris. Decided on this venue as it was close for most guests and many could travel home after the wedding and didn't have to stay. In saying that the hotel gave a great deal on rooms for the guests. Dealt with Alan in the run up to the wedding and found him excellent. Everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. A few guests did remark that the girls on reception could be a little more helpful but that was the only negitive I had with the hotel

Car- Classic cars for hire Kiltimagh, Lovely car and nice driver!

Florist-Balla florists- Judi was so lovely to deal with, gave great recommendations on the flowers and did an amazing display with candles behind the alter of the church

Cake-Husbands auntie did this

Hair-Mona Lisa, Castlebar- Everybody was happy with the up do's

Make-up- Caroline Coyne Galway. Caroline is brilliant at her job and didnt leave the house until we were all getting ready for off. In the run up to the wedding I had trialled another well known make up artist in Galway and all she did was give out about my skin, Caroline on the other hand re-assured me that she could cover any blemishes on the day. True to her word the make up was still firmly in place late into the night!

Photography- Daithi Taylor, Lovely guy to deal with but the only aspect of the wedding that I was disappointed with. Daithi didnt get shots that I asked him to get and took really naff posed pics that are awful,( nobody needs photo's of the bride and grooms fathers posing like a boy band!). Was 100% confident in my choice from the photo's he had shown me, but then you never do know!!!

Video- Cathal Farrely www.irishweddingvideo.com. Got the dvd last week and Im delighted with it. The best thing about Cathal is that you really dont see him on the day, yet he gets great footage. Would highly recommend him!

Wedding Singer- Sean Costello....AMAZING!!! He actually got a round of applause from the guests at the end of the wedding mass. I had heard him sing at a friends wedding in the same location a few years ago and said then and there if i was ever getting married I was getting him. Well worth every penny and I would have actually paid double for him!

Wedding Band- Dederga- I dont have a great ear for music so when it came to wedding bands I was lost!! My sister recommended Dederga as she had been to two weddings that they played at and she thought they were brill. Loads of people have asked me who they were and for their number since the wedding so that must be a good sign!!

Invites and massbookets- We did these up ourselves

Dress- Had a bit of a dress disaster when my wedding dress came in wrong three times and was left with no wedding dress 12 days before the wedding. Ending up contacting Linda in poppy bridal in Ennis and she saved the day. Linda could not have been more helpful, calming and re-assuring. She has an amazing shop and is brilliant at her job, she fitted me in at short notice and sorted me out in no time ( she actually picked the dress for me). My first dress was maggie sottero Bernadette and the dress I ended up wearing was San patrick Rivoli

Bridesmaids dresses- Bari-Jay, tried them on in a place called klassy dress hire in Carlow, they do a sizing service there where they measure the girls and then tell you what size to order online. Worked out really well, they were very helpful, only advice I would have is order a couple of sizes up which I did as they were small fitting when they landed

I think thats everybody....

Thanks for sharing Sheraton.

Glad that everything turned out well with your dress in the end. I am sure you looked beautiful.

Pity that you are not happy with the photos. Its interesting as I really liked that photographers style from his website pics but when I emailed him to confirm availibilty for our day he increased his website packages for the day that we were getting married and that put me off him.

Why don't you see if your videographer could make any of the clips you like into stills so you could turn them in photos.

Many congrats to you both and I hope you are enjoying married life O-O
