Twin mums to be

Hi ladies, I know there is a few of us sprinkled amount the various months threads.
I am expecting non Identical twins in may.
Gender not know, keeping it a surprise.
I am in the may/ June thread but I thought it would be nice to set up our own thread to ask questions, give advice etc
I have put on about 1 stone 3 pounds and I am 23 weeks now. Babies are around 1Ib each so on target. :heartbeat:

I feel huge but went to a twin class recently and certainly I wasn't the biggest with the same due date.
I feel huge for my stage. I am measuring about 28 weeks now.

hi broody chick!! always thought there should be a sticky for us twin mums2be!

I am expecting ID twin boys in 4 weeks!
i have no idea how much weight ive put on, but apart from twin bump (which is humongous!! )its not that much.
my boys at last scan a week ago were 4lbs 1 and 3lbs 13 .
i am 33w 3d and measuring 36weeks!

, wonderful news.
I love surprises and finding out it was twins at three months will keep me going til d-day.
I have no idea but can't wait to meet them.
You must be neat if your measuring 36 weeks at week 33.
I thought by 28 weeks of a twin pregnancy it possible to
Measure full term of a single pregnancy( that what a book stated)
I will be delighted if it not true.
I have a descent bump too and only bigger I am getting.

I hope this will be made a sticky.

What hospital are you going to. Hs for me.

mayo general and they are amazing there i have to say, scans and consultant visits every 2 weeks and they are so thorough.

some people say im neat for twins, then others including my sil and best friend think im in their words "HUGE"!! i carried small with dd so it may just be my thing to do that.

i found out at 8 weeks it was twins, we had a scare at 5 weeks so i had to go back to epu for check on bean, and we saw the 2!!

i had to give up work at 26 weeks as i was in retail and i couldnt stay on my feet!!

Im a twin mammy 2b too :o)ll

I am officially due 11th August at 40weeks but Dr said to consider myself full term at 37wk which is end of July. I found out at 6wks that we were having twins due a scare early on but thankfully both babies are doing really well and measuring up spot on. Last scan I had at 12wks they were bouncing around the place in there :o0

I defo have a little bump starting. I feel massive at the moment but I think at this stage a lot of it is down to me being bloated etc. Dont think I have put on my weight as such but still feel huge but sure its nothing to whats going to come id say :o0

Would be really good to make this a sticky especially to have other mums to be to chat too about twin things!
whats the main symptom ye had girls through out yer pregnancy??

Welcome twinbambimos, it great your at the 12 week Mark. This is the week I found out it was twins, a day I will never forget , amazing.
I had my suspections the weeks up to the scan as I was getting the flutters and I was so sick.
I have a wonderful son who is now two but the first 17 weeks were so hard. I got sick alot. I didn't put on any weight but lost a few pounds up to around week 15.
Then I gained about a pound a week etc.
I got my first kick at week 12. I felt my son at week 17. I am slim so maybe that had something to do with it.
I don't feel slim now. Bump is huge! Loads of movement.
Both babies heads are down low and all the feet are under ribs and to my side.
I just can't believe I am going to me twin mammy. I am so excited. Bring them on. :lvs

Twinbabinos I hope that gives you an idea of what it was like for me from Week 12-23. Your experience of course will be different but it nice to hear someone else experience. I got my bump around 19-20 weeks.
I am 23 weeks now but measuring 28 weeks...nuts!

Tazdevil, as your leading our group, I live to hear your experience of the last few months. What is ahead of us! Spill the beans!

Make thus us sticky. Does anyone know how do this?

well i first felt movement at 9/10 weeks and had to look up if it was possible to feel anything so earlt, but lot of twin mums have felt movement.

it was around week 25 or so when they were strong enough for dh to feel, the movements were at their strongest around week 28-30. right now at 33+weeks they are very strong but more like rolling than actual kicks, one twin is extremely active (on my right) all the time! twin1 on my left has been head down for about 7 weeks now, but twin2 has been rolling from breech to oblique! he was head down last tuesday and my cons. said that i will have a natural delivery as a result, but im nearly sure he is oblique again!! so hopefully he will do another head down tumble!

another thing i would say is, do not buy a doppler when preg with twins, it is hard for my gp to get 2 individual heartbeats without you freaking out that you dont know which hb is which.

i started putting my big bits away about 20 weeks, because if i had to do that now i would cry :o(

would not be fit for it at all!! i have the car seats, moses baskets, vests, sleepsuits, nappies, sudocrem etc waiting in my old room in my parents house (dh is superstitious about having them here!)

i bought the 360 out n about double buggy, i researched a lot of buggies and found this was one i favoured. a wolly on twin mums in m&k gave me a handy brochure to figure out what buggy suits. il dig it out and paste it up.

i am planning on bf (didnt do it with dd) and i am very apprehensive but looking forward to it :o0

i have not bought any bf things i.e pump, creams etc in case the babies dont latch. i have bought about 10 bottles (tommy tipee anti-colic) and an avent steam sterilizer.

there are fek all books on twin pregnancies but i found on rollercoaster.ie there was a lot more twin mums to ask questions to, and of course the twin mums on m&k are brilliant.

in the past week my bump has gotten really really big, my sis couldnt believe it today when she saw me! im only 5 2 so its a lot to carry!!

i think thats it? feel free to ask any questions there was not any twin mums2be when i found out, so i know what its like!!

Wow, taz, a great insight to the coming weeks. I also was told that do as much as you can week 20-26 as it will be harder later on to go shopping.
Once Christmas was over me I started buying babygros and vest and equipment . I bought clothes in sales and all extra equipment needed second hand from rollercoaster website. There is a twin section where mums sell twin stuff so excellent bargains to be got.
I bought cots, swings, breast feeding cushion, buggy all for less than half price and excellent condition.
We have to buy a new car as current car won't fit three car seats in the back. So enough expense already.

Taz, how are you feeling? Do you have any swelling? Are u taking iron tablets? Are u sleeping well?

My bump gets so itchy and I use bio oil twice a day and it helps.

The weight of the bump is unreal and the pressure of both heads down low makes it hard to stand on the spot for long.
Back aches too.
It not all bad.... We get two babies..... Can't wait. Xxxxx

i meant to say i have pica (severe cravings for coal, firelighters, ice etc etc) so i am chewing on ice most of the day, i crave firelighters, not the smell to actually eat!! its all to do with low iron, i was fantastic in 2nd trimester for taking extra iron but over last few weeks ive been forgetting, i have to start taking them again tomorrow, the midwife said my iron was a bit low.

i had swelling in my feet while i was working and that has eased a little. now my ankles swell by the evening!! i am not sleeping at all tbh, most nights/mornings its 3am and depending on dh work i may have to up for 8.30am for dd school if not il get a lie in until midday, but i find sleeping so late depresses me :o0

but napping is a must during the day!
my bump never really itched, my boobs did, i used bio oil and palmers butter, i have a good few stretch marks on the front of my belly :o(

i am hoping the 2 car seats and dd booster seat is going to fit!! otherwise it will be a cheaper bigger car!

i started getting period type pains around week 30, these still happen they actually fairly strong right now! TMI TMI your bowels will start to move a lot soon!

we are v.v.v. lucky we have 2 babies xx

Hi twin mums to be,
How are you lovely ladies are keeping. Taz your day is so close now, 3 weeks tops?
Do you have a delivery date? How are you feeling.
There is 10 weeks between us and I remember like yesterday when you welcomed me to the twin to be club when I found at 12 weeks. I was so touch by it and can't believe your now nearly due.
Twinbamions, how are you doing? Any recent hospital apt? Any kicks etc.
I was in to see consultant and all well. I do feel totally shattered so they did a blood test to see if I have up the iron.
I am on one galfer a day and I find that tough going.
I am in for my growth scan in hs the morning.
I am 24 weeks now so dying to hear what weight they are now.
I bought the last if babygros and vest. Bought all 7.5 Ibs, hope I don't have big babies !!!
How are you doing?
I forgot to mention, I am measuring 31 weeks even though I am 24 weeks, nuts !

Taz how you feeling hon not long to go now?? thanks for posting above on what to expect over next few weeks. Its so good to be able to talk to other twin mum's on whats normal for us as it seems as if it can be very different to single pregnancies.

broody chick - delighted to hear all is going well hon. I can only imagine how shattered you are feeling these days..Im wrecked and way behind you so can only imagine what its like at your stage. Oh best of luck with growth scan tomorrow hon let us know how you get on. When you say your measuring bigger than your weeks does this mean bump size?
All good with me thank god, had another scan on Monday and both babies are doing really well . got to hear heartbeats again and they were beating away nice and strong thank god so Dr was really happy. TOld me to think of 37 wks as full term and was discussing delivery options with me.

we are looking at buggies now...soooooooooo confusing when it comes to twin buggies as there is not much options out there and you have to buy everything sepearte ( as in buggy/car seats etc) which seems to cost a fortune. What are ye going for girls?? any tips would be great :wv

Hi twinbamions,
They measure the bump and that gives them the number of weeks your are at but with twins that rule is broken!
Buggies....this just wrecked my head. I wanted a buggy that carseats clicked into frame but they are not suitable for when babies are toddlers, too cramp looking.I went with second hand out n'about. I bought it from rollercoaster, they have a great buy and sell section under twins.
I bought all my bits from that website.
Next thing we need to buy is a car. Our current one us a saloon car and won't fit three carseats in back!

Twin business is costly.great to hear from you and I log on tomorrow to let you know about scan.
