Do you have it/had it?
Would you recommend it? Im just waiting on AF to arrive and im set to go with it then, have prescription. But i have heard someone who has had a bad exp and has kinda turned me off. Or is it a case of different people different hormones ect.

DD3 is 11 weeks, wish it would hurry the feck up and arrive before i have a panic attack with the thought of been pregnant ;o(

I personally would not recommend it. My GP told me not to get it and I should have listened. Terrible bleeding, hair fell out and awful time getting it removed! However, some wollies have not had the same problems, came up a little while ago, here's the link

I had it put in a few years ago, great contraceptive........for the simple reason the bleeding never seemed to let up so we were getting up to feck all as a result!! O:|

I think i lasted a few months before i had to have it removed, didnt suit me at all. I think it was because its more progesterone based? Like the mini pill, so it doesnt suit some people.

Happy Mammie, what coil do you have? The mirena? Or another one?

I need to get sorted with a contraceptive after this one arrives, but anything hormonal doesnt suit me, turns me into a mad woman, but i think theres a coil that doesnt release a hormone, is that what you have?

That totally puts me off too! We are such wusses! :o0

Happy Mammie, thanks, my sister has the mirena, but she always seems to be so moody and a miserable cow all the time, that its putting me off trying it! >:o)

The pill doesnt suit me at all, and when i came off it i noticed such a difference in my whole personality and how i dealt with stuff. I can see the old 'hormone' me returning over the last few months, courtesy of the pregnancy, so im really reluctant to go down that route again.

But jaysus, the thoughts of getting pregnant again after this scares the bejeesus outta me!! :weep

(sorry candypants for hijacking! :-8 )

Hi there, I have the IMPLANON implant and I'm one of the Lucky ones, because it suits me perfectly. I got my 4th one in the end of January , so in all i have had the implant with 10 years (each one lasting 3 years)....So a very effective form of contraceptive for us LOL

When I got my first one in many moons ago, I didnt think I would last with it in, a bit like boodlesdoodles I did bleed for a fairly long time at the start ( cant remember how long) but it was a very light bleed.... After a while this all did settle down ( oh ya I did get a few headaches at the start too but nothing major) , after all you are pumping hormones into your body so have to expect some settling in time.
I rarely get a period now and when I do it is very light and lasts very little time.... But I do get the symptoms of my period every month.... ( moody, breast tenderness mild cramp etc)

As I said Im very lucky as it suits me and find it great because I would never remember to take the pill etc .. you basically get this in and forget it for 3 years.....And it works for us!!!!!
The only downside I would say is that my skin isnt as good as it was before I started with the implant but that could be more to do with the fact Im 10 years older :compress

I had it in aswell and have to say i loved it. Brilliant not having to remmeber to take anything every day and its so reliable also if inserted properly. I got i removed after a year though as I found that I was beginning to put up weight with it and was gone quite moody also. I didn't have any irregular bleeding though so I was very lucky.
TBH everyone's story seems to be different, If you dont give it a go you'll never know.

You should get the patch. That's what I used, just stick it on your bum and change every week for 3 weeks. It suited me grand. I didn't need to worry about missing days on the pill. I had the mirena coil in years ago and piled on the weight with it. I perservered with it for a year and a half but had to get it removed the side effects were awful.
