Seeing people from your past
Did you ever see/meet someone you knew years ago and they still give you a bad feeling and you are glad you don't know them anymore?
When I was about 14 I played with a football team and most of the girls on it were 2 or 3 years older than myself and my friend. There were a few girls who were really good but were just a right bunch of biatches! They weren't at all nice to the younger players and in the end I quit because I hated playing with them. Recently I have bumped into a couple of them and they still seem to hang out in the same little gang. One girl on our team was 16/17 and was not so secretly dating our 32year old coach. He was a right pr*ck to most of us, a bit of a "never made it" chip on his shoulder and had his favourite players and I never liked him. He seemed to think he was the dogs whatsits hanging around with a bunch of teenage girls who all sort of idolized him. Turns out the girl he dated is gay and he is in a relationship with one of the other girls that used to be on our team. I reckon he is about 45 and doesn't seem to have grown up or out of this weird little bubble. I have nothing to say to any of them when I meet them but its funny how it appears life has turned out for them. Sometimes the cool gang are not so cool when you look back on things.
Re: Seeing people from your past
Oh yeah big time.
Very similar you yourself actually, played a team sport with my sister. I was no good now only did it to get fit and for the social aspect. Ended badly, the older girls wanted it all done their way, weren't nice to the younger ones, and me and my sister were stuck in the middle as we were younger than the older ones and older than the young (very good) players. Just left in the end, and moved on. Grew up, got married, having a baby. My sis went back to study and loves it. Felt like all they were interested in on the team were drinking anyway, got so bored of it. When I see any of them now it's almost funny, they all still hang around in the same little group doing the same things all the time, like they never grew up. Same with college friends, only at the time I was left behind as I felt I wasn't quite good enough. Kind of kept in touch but always felt like I wasn't good enough so left it to fizzle out. Likewise some of them haven't moved on that much, some have but are still a little immature. It's weird how life goes. Re: Seeing people from your past
Do you know what's great though? The day you think of these people, but can't quite remember their names. You ahve a first name but for the life of you, you can't remember what the small blonde one's surname was. Do you know what I mean?
Had a similar experience myself recently. Thinking of people from long ago who were just not very nice people. For the first time, I just couldn't remember their names. It took AGES for a first name to come to me and I still havne't remembered the last name. I think it's a sign that they finally don't matter and the past is the past. Re: Seeing people from your past
I wonder why I cared so much about what they thought. I was pretty good at sport as a kid but I was so intimidated by them I never played well for that team. SK I was actually thinking about one of the other girls that played and trying to remember her name, Mary something...... So clearly they don't matter to me anymore.
Re: Seeing people from your past
There's a girl in my job that i used to be friendly with although now in retrospect i can see if wasn't really a friendship. We fell out and i used to think every now and then that i should have tried to make it up with her.
Saw her recently and nearly broke my neck turning into a corridor to avoid her, showed me that i actually have no wish to talk to her at all, it feels nice to be free of thinking about it! Re: Seeing people from your past
ah yes the "peaked in school gang" as i call em. they are usually the most boring individuals known to man or woman for that matter. be a nerd or a geek or at least unpopular in school and at least you turn out interesting!
...
Re: Seeing people from your past
Im gonna sound like a right b!tch but don't you love when you see someone you hated back then and now they are not so beautiful or successful as they though they would be

Oh yeah, I love this! There's a bunch of girls I used to hang out with in secondary school, they were lovely girls but we had a falling out and I became friends with another group. Now I do like the original group of girls and would be friends with them on facebook etc but they didn't end up as fabulous as they were in school whereas I have improved a lot (wasn't hard, I was awfully boring and ugly in secondary school) and it just makes me happy to know that I am happy and not envious anymore. Not even in a bitchy way. Just in a "I'm just as good as you but never thought I was" kind of way. Re: Seeing people from your past
Yes this is it really sums it up for me. The girls in college made me feel like I wasn't good enough to be their friend because I wasn't as good in college as them and they didn't like my bf. Now, they were right on the bf, he wasn't a good idea, but I would have thought if they were real friends they would have tried harder, I didn't always like their bf's or behaviour but I never abandoned them. So it is nice to be so happy with my life and realise that I am as good as other people and I didn't deserve to be treated like that.
