Rustic Stone restaurant

Rustic Stone restaurant

Postby Time For A Change » Tue May 01, 2022 10:56 am

I'm going there for an early bird meal later on today with Mum and sisters x2. I've never heard of the place, it's on Georges St, has anyone been to it before? I had a look at the menu on Menupages-it's bloody huge!!! It's nearly too big iykwim. I'm still trying to eat healthily, but I can't work out what to have, going by the menu. Any suggestions?

I don't eat shellfish or goats cheese (vile!)

I was there for dinner a while back. TBH I wasn't massively impressed. I had a salad and pasta dish and himself had a steak and while it was all quite nice it didn't blow me away. It just felt a bit pricey for what we got and I do feel it is more hype than substance. Everything we got was lovely, don't get me wrong, but I'm not in a rush to go back. I just remember getting the bill and feeling a bit fleeced compared to other places.

+1 ACS, went late last year and really wasn't impressed with what we got for the price. Also, I was annoyed because by the time they brought my steak, on the hot stone, to the table, it was cooked a little more than I actually like it. Food took aaaages to come and the staff actively avoided us during this wait. Also, I don't want to cook my own f€cking food when I'm paying those prices!! Silly. The chips with parmesan and truffle mayo were AMAZING though, which is not much use if you're trying to be healthy TFAC. Sorry to weigh in with more negative reviews, but I just expected a lot more for the cost. But there's keys(gluten free, wheat free and so on) on the menu which is great if you're on any sort of diet or health kick as you can have something really healthy by the looks of things, not that I'd ever eat healthily when I'm out, enough of that at home!!

Have had 2 completely opposing opinions from 2 friends on this place. One girl raved about it and the other was so upset and the service was so slow that their group got up and left and went elsewhere for food. At the prices I would want to have had all rave reviews before risking it.

The early bird is actually quite limited, there is mac and cheese or chicken wings for starter (both very tasty) steak on the stone for two, chicken salad or a veggie option for mains and chocolate soup or creme brulee for desert (both delicious). There's also bread and dips and a choice of two sides, pesto chips or a bean salad. Have to say I really enjoyed everything except the steak, the meat was fine it was the cooking it myself I didn't like!
