Communion - how much to give ?

Girls - a friend's son is making his communion this month.

I am not a relation or godmother. We are more recent friends - only about 3 years. We would socialize with the other Mums regularly enough but only with our DH's about 3 times a year. But she has been v supportive through a recent difficulty.

I am thinking of giving €20 in a card for her son. Is this too much / too little / just right ? We have only given money to family members fir Communion up until now.

I think 20euro is perfect for him, he will be delighted. My dd1 is making her Communion in 2 weeks and I would be embarrassed if friends gave anymore than that.
My big girl: 8yrs
My best boy: 5yrs
My little girl: 3yrs
My baby girl: 1yr
My angel baby (April '10), sleep tight little one.

I was going to say 20euro too... maybe that's even a bit too much. He is only 7 or 8 is he? That's a lot to a small chap. But no more than 20

€20 is fine, my friend's DD is making her communion next week & I'm planning on giving her €20, its plenty I think.

That's loads! My general rule of thumb is;

Friend's Child / Neighbour - €20
Neice / Nephew - €30
Godchild - €50 (I'm giving my Goddaughter €30 in a card and buying her a chain to wear on the day. Hopefully for around €20)
