He used to be romantic

Its our nine year anniversary today and exactly one year til the day we get married.

We said we weren't doing presents for our anniversary so we decided to just go for a meal and a few drinks tomorrow night.
I saw a great hotel deal on Pigsback yesterday for dinner bed and breakfast so I bought the voucher I wasn't thinking of it as a present for OH as it is for both of us so I told him about it last night.

This morning we exchanged cards and OH had a little gift for me. It was a little angel keepsake, he told me to open the box and in it was a sheet of paper. Oh I thought he is after booking something romantic as a suprise!
I read the details to find out that he had registered me for a 7km RACE! I can't run up the stairs at the moment never mind run 7km!!!
He is lucky I love him or I would murder him!

Hmmm,have you recently expressed an interest in wanting to start running or anything? Maybe he thought it was great,that he was being really thoughtful and attentive!!

I've a friend who mentioned to her hubby that she really wanted new plates for the kitchen. A few weeks later was her birthday so he got her a big set of plates. She was not one bit pleased but he thought he was a great fella,couldn't see what he'dvdone wrong :yelrotflmaosmilie:

Ah bless... What was he thinking??? Maybe he thought he was helping to motivate you... have you been threatening to/or promising yourself to get fitter or something? He may have picked up on something you said.... Or he's a wally. A lovable wally.

This is the man I am going to marry!!!!

I just laughed. He said its something we can do together. That is his idea of romance now.
Long gone are the wooing days now that I said I would marry him.

I have been moaning about not being fit for ages now and that I haven't had the time with other things going but he is giving me a 'focus' now. His words not mine! His intentions are good but he didn't have to include it as an anniversary present. He is a wally. My loveable wally!

I consoled myself with a cream cake for lunch! Not the right way to go towards training for a race but what the hell I'm celebrating our anniversary on my own. :o0

Hehe, that is brilliant! Wally is the right word.
You know, all the tips for being romantic have something about finding something you can do together. So he really tried!
I got driving lessons for an anniversary, so I could be the designated driver on nights out.
And when we were moving in together, he told everyone it would be to save on rent and so he would not have to spend as much time and petrol coming to visit me.
He means well but somewhere along the line it all gets mixed up and he starts being practical! Romantic is nearly never practical!

Ahhh, he was probably thinking that it was something you could both train for together and then do together. I can kinda see what he was trying to do here even if it lacks some romance!!

My DH was never the most romantic anyway, but he seems to be getting worse. For my 30th birthday, he gave me a card, told me that as we were going to be in town the next day I could pick out something and he would buy it >:o(

He had nothing planned for that day, not even a dinner reservation. Needless to say, when I realised that he hadn't even bothered to get me flowers at least or a gift for my birthday,or put an ounce of effort into that day, there were tears from me. He couldn't understand why I was upset with him. He defo made sure that I wont forget my 30th and for all the wrong reasons. It actually upsets me still to think about it.

So my point is, your H2b isn't so bad after all !

Ah bless...my dh wished me a happy anniversary yesterday, three years married would have been wonderful except we got married on the 2nd May not the 3rd, took a bit of convincing too that it was actually the 2nd... :o0

I got cellulite cream for mothers day.....He's a devotee of logic and so he heard me talk about cellulite, he saw it in a range of products that I like, he bought it as part of a selection of this range figuring logically that 'she said she doesn't like cellulite and this says it gets rid of it'. Fair enough!

Dollydel, that sounds like something my DH would do, latching onto a throwaway comment and going for gold! We went away for our anniversary this year and he went on and on about how he'd pay the bill because he'd treat me to the massage I'd got... The vast majority of the bill was accounted for by the voucher I got when I left work and a voucher I'd been given as a Christmas present, so by me really, but he thought he was the business!
