Catering price for a Communion

My sister got a quote for a local catering company to cater her daughters Communion, usual dishes Lasagne, Chicken a la King, Beef Stroganoff, salads, plates, cutlery and the use of catering dishes with special burners that keep food hot, she was quoted €500 for 50 people, is this good value? Have no experience in home catering before.

Sounds fairly good to me. It's only €10 a head, I haven't had experience of home catering bu I know for finger food for my mates birthday in the local it worked out at €12 a head. So all of those dishes for a tenner sounds pretty good to me!!

Thanks streaks, it's hard to judge re the price for her because about 20 of the 50 are 8 year olds to "tweens" who will prob eat as much as adults! So thats why she is questioning the price!

Hmmm... How about ordering for about 40 people? If there will be that many kids there then it might be an idea to bring down numbers. It would make a big difference price wise ;o)

I sometimes work with a catering company and there is always double the food so you might consider this when you're ordering. It's a sin the amount of food that is always thrown out at the end of the night.

I'd order food for 40 people defo, as OP said the amount that gets left over is unreal and the fact that you have a choice of dishes plus salads means there'll still be plenty for everyone.
