I've used loads of living social vouchers and have had no problems. Sounds like the problem is with the salon - they should be offering to extend the expiry date. I would be raging!

I've got a few deals from them before and never had any problem so definitely wouldn't call them a scam company. However, that's not on at all - if the company can't give you any booking then I would have thought that you should get a refund.

Have you had any response from Living Social yet?

I have used Livingsocial a few times and nver had an issue. For your case - did you see the following on the Livingsocial website - you should be able to get credit for further deals as the very least:

"The Merchant is obligated to honour the Voucher in compliance with law. If the Merchant refuses to honour the Voucher before the relevant expiration date, then LivingSocial will refund the paid portion of your Voucher in the form of a credit for future Deals (what we currently call “deal bucks”). In order to receive the credit, you must provide the following information in writing to [email protected]: (a) identification of the Voucher and Merchant with whom you sought to redeem the Voucher, (b) statement of the date, time, and circumstances in which the Merchant refused to redeem the Voucher, and (c) a true and accurate statement that the Voucher has never been redeemed with the Merchant"

Oh no, OP this isn't the voucher for a salon in Dublin, the 'box' package that cost about 50 for a number of different things? Cause I have that voucher and was just about to book for close to end of this month. :ooh

I have always found living social very good, not a scam. If you have probs I'd ring living social direct to warn them the salon aren't honouring the voucher.

My sister has had problems before with salon offers from Living Social. It's not on Living Social though I think the onus is on the salon to honor the voucher. If they don't I think it's possible to get your money back from Living Social.

Hi Wednstyle,

I was in a similar position to you with a voucher before. Had trouble getting through to living social. They did get back to me within 24 hours though. I never got through on phone but emails were eventually replied to.
They are normally very good (if not a little slow to reply)
There will be no problem with you getting a refund of your money, especially as salon are being so unreasonable.

The salon don't get the money unless they have a voucher code - which is why putting you on a cancellations list would be good for them to get the most money.

Some places on those deal sites are such scam artists, hard to tell what is good. I generally only go with somewhere that I have heard of or has good reviews!

Would the OP or Islandill mind PM-ing me the name of the salon.
I have two of those vouchers (one for me and one for a friend).
Salon said they'd call me back but I'm still waiting.
Thanks in advance. O-O

ok so after lots of phone calls salon has called me back (they obviously getting lots of complaints) said they will give me a voucher for €50
suppose its better than nothing but am so disgusted with the whole thing and it has made me cautious never to buy these deals again!!

I was looking forward to being spoilt for a few hours !!!!

Thanks OP. I'm v annoyed now. >:o( I had deliberately saved the voucher for a special event I have coming up.

I had been a bit wary though as i had a shellac deal for the same salon and used it as Xmas and it was the worst ever shellac manicure I've ever gotten. my nails started chipping straight way and shellac impossible to repair yourself-it looked awful and of course couldn't get it fixed that time of year. I will try to book now and if they refuse to honour it I will be straight on to living social. Won't be using that salon again and think they should be named and shamed for that carry on.

wednstyle I wouldn't take the 50 voucher as the deal was worth far more than that! But obv your choice so if yu happy with it, that is good.

I have mailed livingsocial again stating as on their t&c's

"
The Merchant is obligated to honour the Voucher in compliance with law. If the Merchant refuses to honour the Voucher before the relevant expiration date, then LivingSocial will refund the paid portion of your Voucher in the form of a credit for future Deals (what we currently call “deal bucks”). And i have told them obviously the merchant cannot honour the voucher and i want a refund in deal bucks credited to my account , after sleeping on it i woulder rather buy sweets out of the €50 than give them the business. >:o(
