Need answers fast, or homes please!

Am absolutely livid. I was sold 2 boy rabbits and tonight hubby found that one of the 'boys' is now a girl and has just had 7 babies!! We just dont have room for these, what can i do? Does the animal shelters take rabbits, i hate to let these go but we just dont have the room. Only have a double hutch and they wouldnt all fit and we cannot afford to keep more.

i am raging with seller aswell but thats another story, seriously what i am going to do

panicing here!

Oh god what a surprise to get!! Im sure the shelters coukd help even if they posted your rabbits on their fb page. They could point you in the right direction even if they werent in a position to take them. What area are you in?? Also put notices in your local vets as you could get some good homes there.. Good luck

TTC Since Sept 2010
Dh S.A Jan 2012 - all ok
Day 3 bloods Dec 2011- ok
Day 21 bloods Dec 2011 - ok
Pelvic ultrasound - March 2012 - have a small cyst on both left and right
ovary - both are very small!!
Another ultrasound booked for July 31st??

apparently this happens regularly as it is very difficult to to actually tell the sex of a rabbit so pet shops don't care and just sell them. you need to seperate the male from the female and babies IMMEDIATELY for two reasons - apparently the male can decide to kill the babies and also rabbits can get pregnant again really soon after giving birth (the phrase at it like rabbits comes from somewhere :o0 )

then i would recommend posting on the rehoming section of Animals & Pet Issues section of boards.ie. they are also some rabbit experts over there that will be able to help you out. I don't know much about rabbits except the above which i read on boards.

also you will need to leave the babies with the mother for a few weeks until they are fully weaned.

Thanks everyone, getting the male spayed immediately. Will keep the babies for 8 weeks then hopefully rename them.
