Italian Lakes Wedding

Italian Lakes Wedding

Postby rebeccalouise » Thu Apr 26, 2022 8:33 am

Hi

I was typing random things into google to find information on weddings in Italy and i found a topic from 3 years ago that made good reading. so i decided to register and set up my own topic to try and get some helpful advice.

Basically, Im very newly engaged :yelrotflmaosmilie: and have dreamed of getting married in Italy since long before i met my Fiancé. Luckily for me, he also fancies the idea of jetting off abroad with a handful of our closest friends and family.....

Our party will be around 30-35 people so quite small and we both want a civil ceremony, followed by an Al Fresco meal and reception over looking the Lake! But somewhere that also has a nice indoor room if the weather is bad?! We also don't want to share a venue with another bridal party.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for venues on any of the Lakes?

So far, i have had some good advice from Now and Forever weddings (Phillipa) for Lake Orta. She has suggested a civil ceremony at the Villa Bossi followed by a champagne boat trip for all our guests to a reception atL'Ustaria Ca dal Rat. The reception being around 100 euros per head for wine, champagne, a 5 course meal and a cake! I quite like this idea and the price is good too :o)

Romeo and Juliette weddings have suggested the Villa Cipressi. I love this venue, its soooo beautiful, but at the minute its working out quite expensive at 150 euros per head for the same as above with an additional charge of 2000 euros because my party is to be under 40 :eek also as we won't be taking all the bedrooms we would have to cease entertainment around 10pm. So not ideal.

So my questions are:

Can you suggest any good but cheap wedding planners? It seams no matter the size of the wedding most have flat fees. This is ok if its inexpensive but for only 30 people, some are working out more expensive then the reception LOL.

On another thread, someone mentioned a venue on Lake Maggiore that (at the time) charged 100ish Euros per head for a Meal, Champagne, table wine and cake with an additional 20 euros per person for an all inclusive bar???. Unfortunately, the lady never mentioned the name of this venue. I know that price may be higher now, but does anyone know what the name of this venue is? I like the idea of an all inclusive bar for my guests!

Any finally, i'd love some basic advice, supplier suggestions and costings for the usual wedding suppliers, for example; Florist, photographer, hair and makeup ext.....

I know this is a lot to ask, but theres very little information on the internet! You type Weddings in Italy and Weddings on the Italian Lakes into google and ALL you get is wedding planners!

Thank you
Bex

Just to let you know that I am getting married at VIlla Cipressi my wedding meal is €130 per head as I took out one of the courses. it wont be missed there are nine in total! you only have to pay the €2000 fee if you want exclusive use of the terrace. which you wont need if there is 30 of you you can sit nicely at an intimate end of the terrace while any hotel guests will be placed under the veranda. I originally had 30 guests and after visiting the hotel was very happy with this arrangment.

I used IC Bellagio as wedding planner, but to be honest I havent used them at all and there prices have went up.

There is a planner who charges for stuff on an individual basis and some brides on here speak highly of her. http://www.weddingbookerslakecomo.com, her name is Sally and she is English.

I can also recommend Villa Agriturismo Casetello Di Vezio. We have hired the whole complex for our family to stay for our weddin. They also host weddings on the grounds.

I am using Christiano Ostinelli for photographer he is charging €900 for a DVD only.
Hiring my own car, and using silk bouquets so cant comment on these.

Hi,
I recently went to Lake Orta, lake Maggiore and Lake Garda (and the Riviera) to find a wedding venue and planner. We met four different planners and I can say there is a big difference between them and it really depends what you are looking for.

We will get married in Lago d'Orta. One of the main reasons why we chose Orta is actually our planner - Valentina from italienweddingplanners.com. She is so delightful and we felt she really is up for any challenge you might bring onto her with individual wishes and extraordinary requests. Also the town is so cute and will set the right intimate romantic tone to any wedding.

We also went to Lake Garda and had an amazing day with Pam from romanticweddingsonlakegarda.com in Malcesine and Torri del Benaco. She and her partner showed us quite a few options and locations and we spend all day with them!

We also met another planner in Malcesine which we weren't too impressed with as she does everything in a certain way (and will tell you nothing else is possible which is simply not true) plus she doesn't quite mention that the owner (herself) is the photografer and the restaurant they recommend the most (although somehow quite subdue) is actually owned by herself as well... Although I don't doubt she organises lovely weddings (well, the castle in Malcesine just has an amazing view-I doubt you could possibly have a bad day) we just wanted a more personal touch and saying in our big day and a more personal, honest planner!! (she is actually quite infamous in the North for her "all from me" way of doing it) :/ But if your want a planner who organises absolutely everything for you I am sure she's fine (although I still highly recommend Pam!!)

The restaurant Del Rat in Orta is really lovely, right on the water and the owners are really friendly as well. Plus as mgc11 said before - if you want to cut prices you could easily loose a course (or two) as the italians eat A LOT at weddings which can be quite overwhelming for the british taste (and stomach) ;) Also the "aperitivos" are often much bigger and more than the usual british canapès so it's a good idea to check this before deciding on how many courses to go for for the sit down meal.

I hope this helps a bit. I would always recommend going out there and see the place yourself and meet your planner in person. Even a long weekend will do and it's just so nice to see the place where you'll get married with your own eyes...it's also much easier to talk about details like food, open bars and other things in person. Oh and don't forget to visit the fishermans island ;)

Hope that helps, have fun choosing your venue!:)
