Just thought I'd start a thread for those of us who have been trying for over a year and/or are at various stages of investigations or fertility treatment to give each other support and swop ideas/suggestions & experiances....anyone interested?

A thread where the phrase "relax and it will happen" is most definatly barred >:o( O:|

as its now been 2 years and no joy. Feeling
ok at moment but as soon as im due AF
im a wreck even tho I try an not think about
it.Its hard enough but trying to focus on other
ways to occupy my mind and time.

Hi there

Great idea!

I never had probs in my life till I started TTC - off the pill 8 months now but trying about 5/6. My periods were fine at first and then stopped - got bloods and scan and doc said mild PCOS and went on clomid for couple of months BUT went to specialist last week who wants to re-do bloods as the ones that were taken do not prove PCOS!!! So a bit in limbo - have been very down about it lately and worry that because I can't imagine it happening it won't happen!!!! Anyone else feel like that???

Oh and last month got a BFP on digital test - but period started early the next day - so not sure what that was!

great idea loulou
we have had all the investigations/scans/tests you can imagine and have been told I have mild PCOS (so mild they dont want to give me clomid >:o( >:o( )and we have ''unexplained infertility'' - have you ever heard a more frustrating phrase in your life?
we are waiting for our referral to Rotunda for next step and also looking into acupuncture.

Hi girls!

Great idea - I was beginning to feel a little lonely out there amid the sea of bfp's!!

Well we've had dh's sa done - that was fine. I've had bloods done last Sept - fine. Went to a specialist in the coombe in Jan and he had my bloods re-done and put me on clomid - this is my 2nd month. I'm supposed to do a third month next month but i'm not going to bother - I don't think it's helping. Then I have a lap scheduled for April to go in and take a look and see what's happening. So like you lucky - I'm unexplained at the minute - it's awful not knowing!

I went to a nutritionist the other day about my skin/fertility - he said I have oestrogen dominance (and therefore a lack of progesterone - which I kind of knew from the spotting I get before af). So he's put me on a strict diet - he said it would be very hard for me to get pregnant and if I did, I'd probably misscarry, so I'm all for this new regime. He also said the bloods I got done wouldn't tell me about a progesterone deficiency because of the way it's constructed in the blood (some it attached to protein or something like that.)

I'd definitely recommed reviewing ur diet and looking at acupuncture - especially for the girls with pcos and endo - it can definitely improve it. We don't have to rely on doctors so much!

Chloe - I'm really sorry to say, it sounds like you had what's called a chemical pregnancy (I really hate that term :o( ) - it's basically where the egg is fertilised and begins to implant but doesn't make it :xox I hope this doesn't upset you - I think it's better to know these things. Big hugs xxx

Look forward to getting all ur progress soon! Maybe we should do a list of all of our names and where we're at? Then we can update as we go along?

hi
I have also been to see a nutritionist to sort out my diet..its amazing how just a little imbalance in something can throw you out of synch hormone wise..even not eating regualrly enough to stabilise blood sugar etc..have been doing the programme for 4 weeks now and me and hubby feel we are sleeping better and have more energy and it isnt difficult at all..no faddy stuff really!
also i have been having acupuncture since after christmas...me and hubby have had our bloods done-mine showed raised prolactin levels..probably caused by stress so using acupuncture for this and its working ...prolactin levels have reduced the last 3 months.
Hubby wiating for SA test and I am waiting for appt for gynae clinic to get checked out...everything seems to take so long it can be frustrating!

Great idea girls. We've been trying for 9 months now but only on my 6th cycle. I have found out me estrogen level is low and at the moment i am getting bloods done. Dr whated them done on day 21,22,23,24. I also started accupuncture this week and hoping this might help me some how.

This trend will be really helpful for me, as only one person knows we are trying and she is pregnant so i find it a little bit hard to talk to her. I love being able to get on her and talk to all of you and get some really good advise.

Here's some interesting books I found very helpful, for those of u interested!

Inconceivable - Julia Indichova -about a women with secondary fertility who overcame her struggle and went on to conceive, after being told it was impossible.

The Infertility Cure - Randine Lewis - this is a great book, based on the chinese approach to infertility and looks at acupuncture/herbs/diet to correct problems such as endo/pcos etc. Very good but quiet scientific and chinese medicine based.

What your doctor may not tell you about pre-menopause - Balance ur hormones from 30-50 - John Lee - I've just ordered this but it's supposed to be great for telling you all about how hormones work and how to regulate them, increasing fertility and preventing horrible menopause down the line.

Optimum Nutrition Before During and After Pregnancy - Patrick Holford - speaks for itself really!

Anyone else got any good books they'd recommend?

I have read Zita Wests Guide to getting pregnant whihc I found really useful and also inspiring-..had previously read Taking charge of your own fetility by toni weschler which was also useful fro the point of view f charting tems and explaining cycles, oculation CM etc..Zita Wests book covered more aspects and went into nutrition and traditnal chincese medicine and other alternative therapies.
Have also got a book on nutrition and fertility called enhancing fetility naturally by Nicky Wesson-goes into a lot of detail around nutrition and also alternative therapies with case studies attached.
The nutritonist we went to also recommended natural solutions to fetility by marilyn glenville..i havent go it though as from the reviews on amazon it seemed to cover the same ground as in Zita Wests book
hope this helps!

So nice to see there are a few of us - while I am thrilled for all the BFP's I find it actually makes me feel more upset... is that natural or am I being mean?? :o(

Peg - thats what I thought myself - Forgot to say to the doc, I was so nervous that he would say something bad all my questions went out of my head!

Do you find reading lots on the subject makes you more or less positive?
