Breastfeeding Support - Part II

Breastfeeding Support - Part II

Postby the moms » Thu Feb 19, 2022 11:54 am

Hey, DQ suggested starting a new one. What do you guys think?? The old one is such a pain to get into now. Maybe it can be left there as a sticky so new people can read through it for all the top tips, and we can start a BF Support Thread - Part 2.

Will we go for it??

great!
i have the first question. I've had a cough and a cold for over a week now and it's driving me insane, not to menstion ds, as I keep disturbing his feeding with my coughing!!

anyway, I went to the pharmacy and asked about a cough bottle which I could take whilst breastfeeding. They gacve me exputex but when i read the wee leaftlet it said to consult doc before using if breastfeeding.

Thing is I was with the doc this morning to get ds's 4 month injections and he just told me to take honey and lemon. I had been doing that but it doesn't help the cough so I don't really feel like i can ring him to ask him about teh cough bottle.

Anyone, know if it's safe exputex is safe to take?
:thnk

Thanks

Hey Miss C, I found this article on it: www.whelehans.ie/ailments/Q&A-%20Breast ... 20cold.doc

It is recommended that you should avoid guaifenesin if you are breast feeding. (eg) Exputex®, Benylin® Chesty Non Drowsy.

I'd check with your doc again before taking it...

Hi Miss c

Get some glycerin from the chemist, you can take it with warm water, add some honey & lemon or orange juice. It really helps. :wv

Great to see we are up and running again. If anyone else leaves and asks for their posts to be deleted you'll have to answer to me!!!!!!

Such a pity they couldn't fix the other one.

We'll have to make sure this thread stays on page one until it's made a sticky.

How is everyone doing? I'm a bit tired again today. Sleep isn't great lately but starting to think that's just how it is. Don't mind the middle of the night feeding as such but it's waking up for the day at 6am that kills me. Any tips on how to get to 7am? My DS goes back for a nap sometime between 8am and 9am for an hour. But I can't help thinking if he slept on to 7am he wouldn't be so ready for a nap at 8am as he is.

D S used to have his last night feed at 5 and I would take him into bed then and he would sleep for another 2 or 3 hours. He kept it up for ages this was the last feed he dropped.
