My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
Girls,
My DH is going to Japan on Saturday with work. He really hates going as the flight is $hit long, he will be working til 8-9pm most nights, he isnt going with anyone he knows (his boss will be there for a few days), last time there was small earth quakes which made him sea sick while standing still but most of all he'll miss DS terribly. I have a feeling there will be tears on Sat morn Im going to miss him so much but im trying to play it off and pretend it'll fly by and at least its not as long as last time Its only for 7 days but he adores DS. He's so lucky to have a job and they think he's great but since having DS the travelling pi$$es me off. I know some wollies DHs go off for a lot longer, think Im just afraid of how far away it is... and childminding drop offs/pick up, bottle cleaning, clothes washes, food shopping, cooking, bedtimes, night wakings and working my own job... oh and trying to look effortlessly sexy when he returns Sorry for the rant , just a general moan about travelling with jobs. Dont think i'd be able for it if my job decided I needed to travel Any tips on how to survive by myself for the next week?? Re: My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
I feel for your DH (and you!). We're in a similar situation, DH moved to America 2 and a half weeks ago and myself and DS will fly out in another 2 and a half weeks. It's exhausting being on your own with a LO, and I have new found respect for single parents cos it is not to be sniffed at!!
In saying that, it does actually fly by, it will for you anyway with your LO keeping you busy and work etc. If your DH will be working such long hours, hopefully it'll go fast for him too. I've been keeping busy arranging to catch up with friends and family, having them over for dinner (courtesy of the local chinese!) mid-week and arranging days out to meet other friends with kids at the weekend. I don't envy anyone whose partner has to travel a lot with work, it's really hard with a young family so I hope it doesn't happen too often for your DH. Re: My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
Oh I know - it's really tough. DH doesn't travel with work that often; last year he went to Paris for a week and I had my mam & dad come over every eve from 5- 9:30 ish. Mam cooked dinner for me and they helped my occupy DS and give me time to have a shower etc. Plus mam did my HUGE ironing pile
Are you close to any of your family so you could have them pop over? I agree I'd find it harder knowing DH is so far away Re: My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
My DH is away Mon-Fri every week. Tough going but you'll be fine. Trust me, you probably do it all anyway! It's just the lack of even a small break that's a bit of a killer and you won't be fit for much by the time the kids are in bed.
Re: My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
my DH is away working in the UK full time & is home every 12 days for 2 days & we have a 5 week old daughter. It is very hard at times cos i miss him soooo much but like the OPs said you just get on with things & the main thing is to keep busy & by the sounds of it you won't have any trouble with that
The way i look at it is that we would have alot bigger worries if he was out of work cos we'd have bills mounting up so although its a horrible situation, unemployment would be way worse for us. If you could arrange to leave the kids with family or childminder & treat yourself to a day/night out with friends - after all you deserve it Re: My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
i had to come back to dublin to work full time during the week, go home friday evening and i'm back up sunday evening, i have ds with me so hubbie finds this really tough i'm lucky that i stay with my parents during the week and my 2 sisters still live at home so loads of ppl to look after ds, i dont have to worry about him at all!

Thank girls
Unfortunately DS has a head cold at the mo so he's not in the best form. DH left this morn at 6.45am, there were tears from me but no one else THink it helped DS was asleep so DH didnt have to say goodbye just gave him a few kisses Doing nothing today except cleaning house, going to my nans for dinner tmw, my bro is staying tmw night, my dad is coming for lunch on Mon and then Im in work tues-fri, the girls are coming for dinner on Thurs night. So im hoping between all that and lokking after DS it'll fly. I defo think single parents are great, DH had to go to Japan for 2 weeks when DS was 3 months old, it was the worst time ever Going to shop with tesco.ie so that'll cut out some work for me, dinners will be left overs in the freezers and Im going to lay out DS clothes for the next week so I have everything at hand!! Cheers for the words of comfort Re: My DH is going to miss really badly :((((
You'll be fine for the week. Sounds like you've loads planned, which will really help. There's so many people in the same boat nowadays.
My DH will be going away to America for 3 blocks of 2 weeks in August, november and december. Not looking forward to it, but keep saying to myself it could be way worse! Well it actually will be worse next year when his work will take him away for weeks and weeks at a time. But I'm hoping between work and school our routine will be so busy we won't mind. FORMERLY HANDYMAMMY!
