sweet potato wedges are great as they are so soft they just go to mush in their hands/mouths so great for them to start off with. Just cut your sweet potato into skinny wedges and steam them until softish and then put them into over to roast them for a little bit and they are lovely. Also soft carrots are great aswell again cut lengthways ( easier for them to grab) as they are nice and soft. small pieces of bananna are great aswell as they are soft and mushy..again I cut them all lengthways as they are easier grab for them and not as hazzordous to them for chocking!

Thanks, I tried her with carrot sticks and she put the whole thing in her mouth I had to pull it out as was afraid she would swallow all of it! Read somewhere else to give tiny broccoli florets - again she put whole thing in her mouth. I wonder is she a bit young yet? she is well able to grab them and put them in her mouth and she keeps grabbing the spoon aswell.

Prob not the healthiest but I sometimes give my LO a rusk as a treat. She loves them, spends ages chewing away on one and I like the that they just disolve in her mouth as she eats them.

I give her pieces of banana, really well cooked pasta and grated cheese. I've also given her small pieces of really ripe mango. She's nearly 9 months and I'm still not very brave, I'm always so afraid that she will choke and will only give finger food if there's someone else with me!! I haven't even given her a piece of toast yet, am too afraid she will choke.

We're doing blw and have given DD orange, toast (crusts), potato, cauliflower, carrot, broccoli, ham, yorkshire pudding, banana, kiwi, green beans, chicken, pasta (fusilli is good), meatballs, porridge fingers (cook is with a small amount of water in the microwave and let it set, then cut it into fingers) scrambled eggs, !
I find oranges a good one if you're nervous of choking as you can cut a big wedge and she can chew and suck it but she won't really be able to bite of a big piece of it iykwim.
You do have to trust them a bit too, DH is more nervous than i am and will jump if she starts gagging whereas i'd sit on my hands and let her have a chew, the gagging is natural way for them to prevent choking as the food gets pushed forward in the mouth.
good luck and enjoy!
