Doll now or from new baby?

Doll now or from new baby?

Postby blueeyes » Fri May 11, 2022 4:39 pm

My DD will be almost two when new baby arrives so she still doesn't really understand what's happening. She says the Moses basket is for the baby etc but I'm not sure how much she understands. We were going to get her a dolly from the new baby so she can 'mind' that baby while Mammy minds new baby but I'm thinking now that maybe I should get her a dolly now so we can be showing her how to be gentle with it etc. I'm due in less than 2 months. She has lots of teddys etc but doesn't already have a doll that looks like a baby already iykwim!

Will post this in p&b too.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Really cute idea :lvs

My mam got me First Love (Doll from the 80's) when my little bro was born, he gave it to me as a "present" :)

I was 3 when he was born and I dont remember him as a baby at all!! But I remember everything about First Love, her head fell off, her face melted at the zoo :yelrotflmaosmilie: :yelrotflmaosmilie:

I would get it now, might be good to show her how to be gentle and how to kiss and cuddle the new baby.

DD has a doll that she got for her first Christmas when she was 6 months. She has shown absolutely no interest in it for the last year, but in the last 2 months she can't get enough of it, and calls it "baby" so I've been holding the doll, cuddling her, etc and showing DD how to be gentle etc and calling it "DD's baby". The new baby will bring her a sling for the doll (I plan to use one for the baby) and a double buggy, so hopefully the three together will help the settling in!
My gorgeous girl, born June 2010.

I have a 2 year old and just had a new baby the same month he was 2. Similar to urself. I think it is a good idea to introduce the baby doll before baby is born as my little man had an awful shock when baby came home and he is not over it yet!!!
