Toast to 6mth old?

Hos do you give toast to a 6mth old? I know about finger foods but havn't tried any yet? How small does it have to be?

Was wondering this myself as i was only asked the other day have i given my little fella toast and butter yet, i would be terrifed he would choke, if i gave him a piece that was too big!

Ds was about 7 months when I gave him toast, I gave him the crusts with butter and he'd gnaw and suck that for a while. You'd see when it was getting soggy so I'd swap pieces with him then. He didn't have teeth so I didn't think he'd bite a chunk off and he didn't. First few times though were in the presence of my mam because I was petrified he'd choke. I didn't need to worry though thankfully

I just cut a slice up into quarters and gave it to them, even with out teeth mine managed to get bits off. Just watch then and take it slow. My dd2 now sucks the butter out of the toast before she eats it lol

you'd be suprised what they can manage, i cut a slice in quaters and give it that way. started giving DS toast and other finger foods just before he turned 6 months. I know its scary at first but they are clever little things and learn very quickly how to manage their food.

+1, i usually give DD some crusts with a bit of butter and some scrambled eggs, loves it!
