Said id start this thread so we can keep in touch with questions etc in our 2012 babies. I found the may 2010 one great on ds and still use it !

Hope ye are all keeping busy and well with your lo's.
Ive started to wean dd off me. She is a very hungry baby and was feeding every hour day and night on me with top ups. So now ive dropped two feeds and one of those is a night one so will drop another morning one today. Hoping she starts to go longer at night soon, im exhausted run down and had a virus this week.

Good thinking justwed!

We're doing well, although I'm finding it quite hard, even though we're really really lucky, she only really cries when she's hungry. It can be difficult getting her wind up, and it doesn't help when I fall asleep feeding her during the night. It usually ends up with her spitting up her feed (happened this morning, spewed all down the front of me).

We're not helping ourselves by letting her fall asleep on us and eventually putting her into her crib. I've been going to bed around 9 and DP has kept LO downstairs for me to get 2/3 hours uninterrupted sleep. In the long run I think this is a bad idea as I'm sure LO has to start getting used to the difference between day and night, going to bed etc..

We'll get there though.

Hope all the April mammies are doing well.

Hi ladies.

Hope you don't mind me joining. Was supposed to be have a March baby but she decided to come late and was born on 7th of April. So she's five weeks now.

She has reflux and so find putting her down at night hard as she usually wakes up fairly soon after with vomit or pains. Poor little thing. She usually sleeps in my arms or a sling during the day. Going to go to an osteopath in a fortnight which will hopefully help.

The magical six weeks milestone is just around the corner and everyone says things get easier then. Fingers crossed.

Hi ladies!

I shouldn't jinx it, but DD slept from 1am til 7 this morning, which feels amazing as the most she's done so far is 4 hours :) I'll take it even if it was a fluke! I put her into a 0-3 months babygrow this morning for the first time and she's not looking too lost in it - she's growing so fast!

Geeklover, I wouldn't worry too much about habits at this point. I did the same as you with DD1 and she still fell into a good sleep routine by herself.

Justwed09, hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi girls great idea starting this thread!! Our little lady is getting big!! I have been bottle feeding since day one and have had to change onto aptamil comfort because of her constipation and wind, she also has reflux but it's not too severe. she is getting much better at burps but there's no way Id do a feed without infacol it's great stuff!! She has an awful lot of mucus and has gagged on it and then vomited a few times, she couldn't catch her breath on one occasion it was pretty scary! GP gave me a referral letter to baby clinic about it but said there really is nothing we can do about it.Anyway I hope everyone is getting on well, our little lady can sleep up to 10 hours at night already!! We are so blessed!!

Ttc11- ah how are you getting 10 hours at night? Does she wake for feeds? Tell me your secret!! Our dd wakes every 2 hours, she gets 4 oz sma in the 3 am feed but will still wake between 5 & 6 for a feed. I'll probably have weaned her fully in next few days.
How many oz is your lo takig in a feed?

Great idea to start this thread and to hear how everyone is getting on. Thanks justwed09 :thnk

Our little man is nearly 3 weeks old. BF didnt start out well, he wasn't getting near enough (he wasnt latching correctly) and was loosing weight so I resorted to a combo of expressing and topping up with formula. I'm slowly reducing amount of formula and trying to get him back breastfeeding now that he's mastered the latch. A touch of mastitis has slowed that down for me but we'll get there :)

We've terrible trouble the last few nights getting him down to bed. He seems to be so much hungrier in the evenings, I'm feeding him on demand as he wants it but it still takes us ages to settle him and get him to sleep. I've been trying to let him cry it out but it's not really working, he gets hysterical and stops the minute we pick him up the little demon!! He eventually tires himself out and nods off but it can take 2 hours. If anyone has any tips for bedtime please please pass them on.

On the upside he's great throughout the night. Depending on how many evening feeds he has he might wake around 2-3am for one. The last 2-3 nights he's slept right through and I've had to wake him in morning for a feed.

I have to say as well, that for any quick questions or concerns I've found this UK website a god-send http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby?intcmp=tnav_baby_main

Hi Girls,

Great to see a thread going :wv

My DS2 is doing great, a very alert little boy and is a hungry boy also, i am FF feeding him as the BF didnt work out for me this time round. He feeds every 3-4 hours and is slow getting his wind up the past few nights so am trying the infacol and it seems to be working, its awful seeing them in pain...

Geeklover - don't worry too much about bad habits yet, i am doing the same at the moment, but will start putting him down awake in his crib around 10-12 weeks like i did with my others and they will fall into a routine pretty quickly.

strangeangel & ttc11 - am dead jealous of your little ones and their great sleeping :zzzz:

justwed09 - my Ds is taking 4oz (aptamil) and maybe 5oz if he has had a good nap and is really thirsty.

Not sure what the secret is to getting a full nights sleep at this stage, i never had any long periods of sleep (6 hours or more) with any of my kids until they were around the 12 weeks mark, i know its so tiring at the moment, but i enjoy all the hugs at 3am as they are only this small for such a short time and it really does fly girls.

On that note i am heading to bed for a quick nap ;o)

Same here with my little man. Nearly 3 weeks too. I sometimes find he has a little bit of wind left him even he is usually easy to wind or sometimes has a little bit of poo or wind working it's way down. But this only some of the time.

Do BF babies sleep the whole night? Mine will feed at 9 stay awake till 11 for another feed maybe fall asleep by 12. Another feed another 2 - 3 hrs later and sleep another 4 hrs. Last night was a first asleep at 12 and look for another feed until nearly 5. I woke up worried at 4. But left him sleeping. He then didn't feed until 8:30. Happy days if this keeps up.

Prayer for Motherhood

O Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, with confidence I come to you and ask your help. It is my earnest desire to have the gift of motherhood. You who were the mother of Jesus understand the joy of being a mother. Please obtain this grace for me from Him who is the Master of Life, so that I may raise up children who will give Him praise and glory in this life and the next.

Amen.

Almighty Creator, hear this fertility prayer and the wishes of my heart.
You know my deep desire for a child -- a little one to love and to hold, to care for, to cherish. Grant that my body may conceive and give birth to a beautiful, healthy baby in Your holy image. Guide me in all my choices so that this conception, my pregnancy and my baby's birth are in line with Your will. Heavenly Father and Holy Mother, hear this prayer of my heart, mind and spirit.

Amen!

Hi everyone,

Its great to see this thread going.
My little man is 5 weeks today and doing great. We feel very lucky at the moment as he is feeding well (FF) and sleeping well at night.
For the last week he has been having his last feed at 7.30/8pm and is asleep by 9 and will sleep til 2 or 3 am. Its fantastic. He'll wake again at 6 or 7.
He is feeding every 3 hours during the day which I dont mind at all.

The only difficulty with him is when he is going for a nap during the day he tends to fight it, don't think its wind as he is good at getting wind up.
My DH and I were having difference of opinion on this. He thinks we should let him cry it out but I don't think this works and I hate to see him upset. He likes to be held when he gets overtired and will go into moses basket when falling aleep.
I think he is too young to be spoilt so I prefer to hold him rather than have him cry it out!

Cant believe how fast time is going...5 weeks old already!!

Thanks ladies, glad I haven't ruined her altogether yet!

Looks like we've a fair amount of windy babies, it's so hard to know if you've got the lot up. I've been getting very frustrated with the BFing, especially when it all comes back up if there's trapped with. I have a fast let down so LO is choking and coughing when feeding which is making matters worse. I've arranged a lactation consultant to come out to us, hopefully she can help us sort it out.

I'm also going to check in with my GP. 6 week check up isn't til next week but I don't feel right in myself, and I'm not bonding with LO as I should, think I have PND. Can't really describe it right at the mo, going to try write it down later to explain to the doc and make sure I don't forget any of it.

Take care of yourselves ladies. :lvs

Hi ladies, I was on d may thread in P&B but babs arrived 8 days early in d 23rd Apr. He's a fab wee man. Am BF which is very time consuming and have no routine whatsoever but it's early days yet. At least babs only wakes to feed during nite which is every 3 hrs approx i.e. He doesn't stay awake.

Geeklover, sorry to hear you're not feeling yourself and good that you're getting it checked out.

Hi ladies, my little man is nearly 4 weeks now. Bfing him and he is a great little grubber, it's a hard road though, have problems with a bad cracked nipple and he's such a hunger lad, feeds every 2 hours during the day, 3 at night. He is thriving though, so I know it'll be worth it.
He was very unsettled at night, was crying to be up in your arms. Have tried tightly swaddling him the past 2 nights on a friends advice and it seems to have worked. He takes his feed and is going back down no problem, hopefully it lasts!

Geeklover take care of yourself. Your doing the right thing talking to the doc. Best not to let things go unsaid. Is this baby no. 1 ? It is for me and it's amazing how life is turned upside down.

Sounds like it's going well (well, not the nipples bit but you know what I mean)! I've chickened out of phoning the doc the past 2 days but I've my 6 week check up next week so won't be able to avoid it then. It's my first too, no amount of 'you won't know what hit you' advice will ever prepare you! You don't want to hear it before hand, we all said yeah yeah, I know it'll be hard, but it really is indescribable!
