Bobbi Brown v MAC (Poll added)

Postby Jane Smith » Sat May 12, 2022 1:49 pm

Need a make up overhaul. Looking to purchase foundation, concealer and powder and would prefer to keep them all within the one brand range. Planning on booking a apt at one of the BT counters. Any pros or cons between Boobi Brown v MAC?

I have to say, i prefer MAC, i think they have a much better selection.

I do not like BB foundation, it just did not suit my skin, it made my skin look 'scaly', don't know how else to describe it.Some of the MAC foundations dry out my skin. But i love their eyeshadows, blushes, glosses etc.

i'm the opposite of pennyhill - for foundation, powder & concealer i love bobbi brown & find it really suits my skin (i have combination normal/oily skin). i also find the colour range (of its foundations) is excellent- 'sand' matches my skin tone exactly- & it remains true all day (doesn't oxidise).

i love MAC's eyeshadows & lip glosses though.

I may just have to add a poll! :o0 If it makes any difference I wear very little, if any, make-up during the week so when there is an occassion or I'm venturing out I like to gloss it up, as oppose to the natural look. I just don't want such a heavy coating of make up which is what I have at the moment with my current foundation (compact).

I love MAC makeup - it has suited my skin really well for years. But lately, I started using the BB concealer, and it's excellent, much prefer it to MAC. I had a make up lesson done at BB as well a while back.. let's just say I was embarrassed leaving the store because she seemed to put every wrong colour on my skin that was possible...

I wasn't happy with my MAC foundation, I've worn it for years and it just hasn't looked right on my skin lately. So two weeks ago I bought one from Bobbi Brown and I love it. It is so much lighter on my skin, skin feels great with it, lovely coverage, very natural looking. Im converted! Still have my MAC eyeshadows, lipgloss etc but will be sticking with Bobbi Brown for foundation.

I might take your advice and try a BB foundation... I had used Clinique for years before I used MAC, so it's time to mix it up again I think!

Can I say both? Lol! Both have great products but MAC without doubt is the way forward for me, Im a make up artist and use mostly MAC everything barring primer - love the Smashbox photo finish one! I don't wear a lot of make up during the week but love MAC face and body - its so light, blotpowder as I'm quite oily, golden refined bronzer, zoom lash in black, springsheen blush and a quick flick of satin taupe eye shadow - that's my make up bag! Some black liner if I'm feeling really adventurous! At the weekend I'd use the studio tech for a night out! Try before you buy...book in for a make over which is redeemable and see how you get on? Oooh I could talk about makeup all day!

Good luck & more so enjoy!!

Thank you Nikki and other wollies! I think I will go with the MAC, although the concealer in the Bobbi Brown was grabbing my attenion when looking at the products on the respective websites. I guess I'll be better able to judge when I see them in reality. It's next to impossible get a make up apt at MAC counter without booking weeks in advance. I have my name on canx list but it's looking unlikely. I don't really live anywhere close to one so only a Sat when I happen to be in a place with a BT store is possible.
