buying dresses online yay or nah?????

I ordered mine, a bridesmaids, and two flowergirls online in November. Didn't customise measurements, just took a gamble with the standard sizes offered. Total for the 4 dresses was €550, then about €70 to the Fedex guy when they arrived. The result was - 2 lovely flowergirl dresses, better than any I had seen, but the arm-holes were very, very small. Both dresses had to be altered at €20 each. Bridesmaid dress - ordered a size 12. I'm a 10, and my bridesmaid lives in London, so when it arrived I tried it on....it was very tight. Sent it to her, and there was no chance it would fit. My dress - it was much, much better quality than I thought, as they all were. It also fit me, if a little bit too big. Everything about it was fab -0 apart from the cut which was slightly different to the photo. I thought it was lovely, but not 'wow'. Then I decided on another bridesmaid....
So the upshot is, I bought four dresses - The two flowergirls ones are brill, but add on an extra €40
The bridesmaid one didn't fit, so ordered her another one and another one for my 'new' bridesmaid. Can't get refund on first one.
My dress - just didn't suit me the way I wanted, ended up buying another locally.

So, all in all, yes, ordering online is fine, I ended up with great dresses, but don't expect money back if they aren't just what you want. I'm hoping to sell my dress and 1st bridesmaid dress and break even.

Just updating!! I ordered mine from ebay and I love love love it!!! There is nothing wrong with the style or quality, in fact I had cheaper looking ones on in bridal shops. It cost £87.00 and to look at it you would think it cost hundreds. Cannot recommend the ebay seller enough and it came from CHINA!!! :ooh :ooh

great infor F1. I have been searching for feedback from experiences buying on line all evening. Relieved to hear you had positive experience. I ordered my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses this week from an Irish online website , I can get money back as they offe returns policy but hope it works out. Was looking for some re assurance from fellow brides out there. Was really happy with the price so hopefully quality lives up to expectations.

I found that I did most of my research online and then tried on some dresses locally in Dublin. Then when I heard the exorbitant prices of the dresses in shops in town I was back online looking for cheaper alternatives. There was so much choice, particularly second hand ones from the UK. The exact dress that I tried on and liked in town was available in really good condition from UK sellers online for one third of the price. Sellmyweddingdress.net had a good selection of Irish based dresses. I chickened out of buying a second hand dress and went for a new one in town instead, but I'd definately buy some accessories, veil, jewellery etc online if anyone has any suggestions?

Totally agree B2B , I cannot justify paying bridal store prices when i can can get a similar dress on line at fraction of the price. I know its not for everyone but I need to save every penny these days. will deintely let you know how I get on. Did you check out where I ordered from -site called wedding dresses my amee. Found out today that my friends cousin got their dress from them - She was delighted with the quality. Feeling very confident now. :wv
