Hi Dee,

I bought my dress and my two bm dresses in Thistles Bridal Couture in Tuam, I would recommend them, very professional. :wv

Well I bought 2 dresses (long story but accidentally bought a dress that my friend got married in!) from 2 different shops, both of which I found to be really good: The Bridal Studio in Drogheda and Moreland Bridal in Clarehall, Dublin 13. Both had a great range of dresses and the store assistants were really helpful. Would definitely recommend looking in Drogheda as there are 5 bridal shops all close together. Would also give a particular mention/recommendation about Danielle in Moreland who was very patient with me when I was nearly having a meltdown over buying a new dress!

I've just got mine - thank god! I got it from Bella Bleu on South mall in Cork. The dresses are unreal and her shop is absolutely lovely. cannot recommend it enough. we would love to find somewhere a bit unusual for a slightly quirky groom's outfit - any suggestions anyone?

You so should - I bet you'll find something you LOVE there if you like the look of the stuff on their website. It was just so lovely, I could have chosen about four dresses I loved! Be sure to make an appointment though as you can't go in without one. Loved it and the staff are so nice and honest about what suits etc.

I have to say I was so disappointed with Dublin bridal stores. I don't understand why the women that I met who work in these stores have such attitudes. There was one store in particular just off Grafton Street where I was about to purchase the dress despite it being overpriced and the owner of the store put me off completeley.

I ended up buying my dress in Berketelex (not sure if thats the right spelling) in Jervis shopping centre. The staff were nice, now they were doing the whole sales job of only 20% off today etc but they were really patient and let me try on dresses on a Saturday with no appointments. The dress I chose i was so happy with and it was half the price of the one I was going to buy in the posher shop.

Happy shopping!

The Ivory Rose in Passage West in Cork. The owner, Marie, is just lovely and I'd highly recommend her.

I got mine in the Elegant Touch in Castlebar and I couldn't recommend Regina enough, she was so lovely to deal with and actually had dresses that would close on me which made such a difference to the experience. I had been to 3 other bridal shops where pretty much everything was a size 12 and the shop assistant had to hold the dresses closed on me when I was showing everyone which was really embarrassing,I'm not a stick but I dont consider myself a total fatty (I'm a size 16) although the wedding diet has started! I left totally depressed each time and still with no clue as to what suited me, it's hard to get a right idea when nothing fits. Regina was so professional and made me feel really at ease, she had me try on loads of different styles, (she has a great variety of dresses in different sizes) just to make sure I was sure about the dress I liked. I had my mam, 3 bm's and SIL in with me and there was plenty of space for everyone, it was so relaxed and she did me a great deal on a fab dress, super happy and can't wait to wear it on the big day :compress
