Anyone's child with Enable Irl?

Postby Dairy Queen » Fri Dec 04, 2021 1:22 pm

Our son has been referred to Enable Irl by his paed and I was just wondering if anyone else's LO is being seen by them? I'm not sure what to expect. A social worker is calling to our house first and then we get an appointment for an assesment.
I'm hoping it happens soon as he is really getting left behind and I feel so sorry for him. :o(

I suppose I just want to know what happens at the assesment, he has to see so many people do they all see him in the one day?
How is her son getting on? Has she seen improvements?

Our 3 year old son is currently being assessed with enable Ireland for autism. Try and stay positive. They will ask many many questions and put him through lots of differant tests and trials but its worth it in the end. For you to deal with what may be ahead of you and your son you have to know what his strengths and weaknesses are. Try to keep in your head that he is still your little boy. We have our son in speech and langauge as well at the moment and he has come on leaps and bounds in the last 6 months. Hope all works out well for you and your family..

Thank you, we got the appointment for his assessment and it's in two weeks so not long to wait. I hope your son thrives with them.

my son has been attending enable ireland since last May and he has come on leaps and bounds since he started, i dont know what you child will be attending for by my son gets Physical therapy and something to keep in mind is its really important to do the work at home with him as well as at his sessions.
When the social worker calls out to you it will be really informal and she will just give you info on what is going to happen and what you are entitled to etc
There will probably be around 4\5 people at the assessment as well as yourselves, they will probably ask you loads of questions and watch your little one to see what his needs are.
I find them fantastic and lovely to deal with so best of luck :thnk

Thanks for that Lily. For a start it's physical needs but the nature of his disability means he may need other help in time. How old is your little man? I am worried that 5 people all at once will be overwhelming for DS!

My son is nearly sixteen months he has spina bifida and hydrocephalus, if you are worried that five people might be too many for him maybe say it to the social worker when she calls out to you and they might have another option.

He is only meeting 3 the first day and the other 2 at the next appointment. He went in for ct scan tody and the sedation only lasted 5 mins so we've to be re scheduled and they are going to try him with a different sedative.
He has his first day with enable next week.

Hi, my baby is in Enable too and I can't speak highly enough of them. I have found the staff are really warm, caring and positive. Best of luck. Your son will get the best care there.
