Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
Hi All
I have designed my engement ring, paid a deposit for an oval setting and am going to Antwerp shortly to discuss the final look of the ring including baguettes. I'm now wondering if it just be easier to purchase the stones and have the ring made here in Dublin. Jeweller says it will take two weeks to make the ring (he has a picture of what I want) so we thought about buying just the stones from him and having it set here in Dublin - would save H2B having to go back there in two weeks to collect it. I know the jeweller in Antwerp won't be too keen on this as he prides himself on following the job through but my question is - would any jeweller do this. Have done a search on the internet and can't find any information. Thanks in advance!

Re: Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
I would highly recommend Irish Rubies and deal with Shay http://irishrubies.ie/
I got my ring made with Shay, he sourced the stones from Antwerp and had it set and on my hand in a week. The ring is stunning, valued at twice what we paid for it and his service is excellent. Certified stones etc. great quailty and his craftmanship is excellent. I was vey disappointed with what I saw when meeting another supplier who advertises on here regularly looking for a similar service! Shop around and go on personal recommendations.

Hi - I'm new to this forum as I recently got engaged
![]() Just wanted to post my experience on here Vs Antwerp. I bought my ring in Antwerp (it is amazing) and it was by far the best value for money from a diamond and setting perspective that I found and I did a lot of research before I travelled over. For me there is no comparison, but I guess it depends on what you are looking for, for me I wanted something different ![]() Good luck with your purchase ![]()

Thanks everyone for your help.
Went to Harold Phillipe in Antwerp and was so impressed with him that not having him make the ring wasn't an option in the end. I absolutely adore it! Thanks again. Positano
Ring Deisgn Dublin
I just read your post and couple of my best friends have gotten engaged and married in the last few years. I have sent loads of my friends into Patrick Glynn’s Jewellers, they are manufactures and designers. I should add you’re getting whole sale prices which are the best part. They can truly design anything you want. It’s the whole romantic experience, the shop is nearly 100 years old and the staff are lovely.
Hope this helps others looking for something a little extra special, you won’t find them in the yellow pages as they don’t advertise but I just found a link to their website it gives a map with directions. http://patrickglynnjewellers.com or contact them on 8733866 there based in Dublin, Middle Abbey street. All the best, Sally
Re: Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
Hi,
Im new to this but I just wanted some advice on an engagement ring we bought the first week of January, I have quite small fingers so the ring was way too big, the jeweller said it would take 3 days to get it re-sized. Six weeks on and they now tell me it ll take another 2 weeks as they had to re make the ring altogether (make a new mould for the band) as 'my fingers were so small' (they re not that small either). Im getting very frustrated at this stage that it is taking so long. Am tempted to ring them and ask for my money back and get a new ring altogether. Has anyone else had their ring re made? And how long does it take?
Re: Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
Hi Nellie,
My future SIL had her ring re made last month the band was too small for the diamond and didn't suit any wedding ring she wanted. She had it re done by a jewellers in town and had it back in a week literally sat - sat. I can't remember the name of the jewellers but I know she was so impressed she is gettin the wedding rings made there. I don't think it would take that long to re make a ring and if it was me I would definetly be asking for my money back. Hope it works out for you soon!!
Re: Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
Hi Girls, Im also new to this site, I got my ring made and gave the Jewler pictures and explained in detail as I thougt what exactly I wanted. Collected the ring last nite
![]() Jewler told me he could drop the diamond down but Im just wondering if it would be possible to raise the surrounding diamonds up to the height of the centre or would that envolve making a whole new ring. I took it home to wear to see if it'll grow on me but im still ![]()
Re: Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
Hi Mulman,
If you gave the jeweller pirctures and they clearly show how the centre stone is set then it is the jewellers mistake. Tell the jeweller you are not happy with finished product and point out the differences versus the pictures. Ask the jeweller to make ring according to your requirements and if that means making the ring again so be it. Hope that helps Seamus Re: Getting a ring made (in Dublin)
Hi Seamus,
Thank you for your reply. I am going to ring the Jeweller today to see if we can sort it out. Thanks again.
