Engagement Ring Under Insured!

I just found out yesterday that i couldn't replace my engagement ring with the insurance money, (assuming they paid out!) if it was lost or stolen. I have my valuation certificate, which the insurance co never asked to see, but it would cost nearly double to buy it now even at wholesale prices.
Does anyone know if it's very expensive to get a ring revalued and does the insurance skyrocket?
