HI Cabaret,

If its the Goodfellas from the south, i'd go for it. They are a great band and really great to deal with which is half the battle sometimes. I don't know much about "Goodfellas" from the north, but we deal with "Goodfellas" (south) all the time and we hear nothing but great reports.

Your contact is Mick and he will give you any advice and help you may require

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I was considering this band and went to see them play. They are very good but as someone said they are very loud and more for a young crowd. Nothing to suit the older generation.

Hi there wollies

I just want to be clear that it is the Goodfellas from Limavaddy the OP was talking about and not ourselves.

But in defence of ANY band, I would like to address a couple of issues raised here. I hope that's ok.

Firstly, I want to point out that price is SUCH a relative thing. There are bands to suit every budget on here, and if someone is too dear, no-one will book them. Thats the free market, and people who are not busy reduce their pricing til they find their level.

Conversely, if someone can see value in something, they will pay the rate for it, whether its intrinsic value merits that or not. Thats why people buy BMWs and Mercs despite the fact cheaper cars are often better and far more reliable!! And a pair of Manolo shoes costs HOW many hundred??? I buy mine in Clark's, but thats just me!!

:o0

This comment we see a lot around here "Thats a lot for two hours...". Bands are not paid really for the time they play. I'm working right now, answering questions on here ,and its all the OTHER stuff that takes up so much time. Like anyone who works for themselves, I'm ALWAYS working. I was answering texts and mails form clients as late as 1 am last night. This is a full-time job, honestly.

With regard to volume, please bear in mind that ANY band you go to see is playing for the crowd on the night and at the time you see them, not you.

You can make your viewing experience more relevant to yourself by going to see bands in a venue of a similar size to your own. There's no point going to see a band in a huge room like Seafield if your wedding is in the small room in Cartin House. Any band will approach those two venues entirely differently, even in other areas than the volume, but the volume especially.

People walk into a venue codl from outside, whereas the guests have been there all evening, and have been acclimatised to an energetic performance by the music being quieter at the start f the night.

However, don't let that sway you - call the band and say " You were good but very loud. We don''t want you that loud on OUR night". No band is going to disagree. Remember, on your night YOU'RE the boss.

We have had a situation where a groom was telling us to "pump it up", even though we knew it would alienate anyone listening outside. He's paying the bill, its his night, he gets what HE wants.

But remember on YOUR night YOU get to call it, and the volume control goes down as well as up. We don't mind either way. Its your choice.

The time you go see a band is important too. If you go at the end of the night, you won't see us catering for people by doing waltzes.. The reverse is true. We have had people come at the start of the night and say "you just looked after the oldies, nothing for the younger crowd there at all".

Thankfully, the answer to this one is simple - ask the band to send you their repertoire so you can look through it, and tell them you want certain age groups catered for, though any band worth its fee will know to read the crowd and play whats needed at that very moment to fill the floor.

Lastly, I would advise any couple to just ask the band if they can discount the price if you think its too dear. You'd be surprised how many can do something for you

Thanks for reading and I hope this finds you all well

best Regards

Michael

these guys played at our wedding (NI Band) - brill band however they did give us a tough time as we ran a little bit late.our first dance was just before 11 and we got alot of attitude from one of the band members for this - this completely put me off them. No need for attitude on your wedding day! They couldve easily played for a little less time rather than causing us to feel stressed. Thankfully we did not let this ruin our day
