Father/Daughter dance

Postby sept2012bride » Fri May 04, 2022 1:14 pm

Hi All,

Looking for a bit of inspiration for a song to dance to with my dad at the reception.

He is a big fan of Garth Brooks and american country music. Can't seem to find a Garth Brooks song that is appropriate as they are all more love songs.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Dont want anything too cheesy mind :)

If you want to stick to the Country and Western vibe there are loads of songs about Fathers loving their daughters that could work. What about 'My Little Girl' by Tim McGraw or 'I Loved her First' by Heartland?

Editing to add Stevie Ray Vaughan's 'Pride And Joy' it's not exactly country and western, but it's upbeat and could be a fun dance to do.

I asked my dad what he'd like us to dance to and he picked "Wonderful Tonight" Eric Clapton which is kind of a love song but it meant something to him so went with that. :lvs

I'd agree with Eleanor Rigby's suggestion of Heartland's 'I Loved Her First'. Perfect for the occasion. :wv

I asked my dad what he wanted to dance too and he suggested Val Doonican's "The special years". No idea where he came about it. Ive never heard him mention it before and he wouldn' be big into listening to music. So it obviously struck a chord with him at some stage. But I like it anyway so Ill go with it. :o0

No clue what I will have for mine....or if we will even do one. I must ask my sisters what they did as I can't remember if they had a father/daughter dance. I've only been to one wedding that has had one!

This song is AMAZING though and always makes me well up. I have posted lyrics too:
