Slimming World

Re: Slimming World

I picked my target weight fluffysocks and it would still be considered overweight for my height but I look fine at that weight. I still have 5.5 stone to get rid of to get there. All health clubs and dieticians always have your ideal weight for height as very low. i used to be nine stone before I put on weight and I am 5'2. Even at nine stone, i looked underweight. I look fine at 9st 7. Because I have so much to lose, I chose 10 stone as a target weight. If I ever get there and I still have the will, I can drop another half stone. My weight according to the experts should be under eight stone but there is no way I want to be that light or that thin. Doesn't suit me. For shifting the weight you are stuck at, I would suggest changing your diet a bit...still eat healthily of course, but eat a more varied diet. try different fruit and veg and maybe a different exercise. Our leader told us that your body can get used to eating the same food all the time and then get stuck, I have also heard with exercise that it is good with walking to go at a certain speed and then speed up for a few minutes and then resume normal speed and do that every so often during the walk. It is meant to work wonders. Good luck. Do you go in dublin?

Aw thanks little miss hopeful. I dont go in Dublin - Im from the north and go in Derry. Regarding exerices I think Im doing ok with it as I try to vary it as much as possible. Doing that 30 day shred dvd and try to combine short bursts of running with any walking I get up to. I think what you say about varying the diet is my problem in a nutshell now I think about it. Sometimes it takes someone else to tell you the craic!!

Agree totally with what you are saying about height and weight ratio. Im only 5'1 and I will be well happy when I get down to just under nine and a half stone (the consultant suggested 8 stone - I said no way as I would seriously look ill at that weight in my opinion).

Hopefully we both get there and are here congratulating each other when it does happen. :thnk

I might try and post here every week as means of motivation.

Well I was bold last night and had a small tub of vanilla ben and jerry's. Lifeline says it is 11.5 syns but they have it as 100g and I think it is really 112g so counting it as 12 syns to be sure. Luckily I had only had 2.5 syns otherwise yesterday. Today will be a syn free day. Going to walk to mass later, which is about 20 mins each way. Hopefully it will stay dry. Then I will have achieved and made double effort for the day...mass and walk. Wi tomorrow again. Scary! :o0

Hi Fluffysocks, I didn't pick a target weight either but I put one on the website which is only ever about 7lbs away so I can easily reach it and change to another one.
I'm 5ft 1 and at the min I'm 9 10 and the lightest I've ever been was 8 13 (for a week before my wedding :yelrotflmaosmilie: ) so 9stone is light enough for me. I would be gaunt looking at 8 stone! Go with what you feel is achievable for you then change it again if you want to.

Tried to be very good this weekend and even went for a 6 mile run this morning! Can't really feel the difference having the weight off by being able to run for longer and finishing quicker. Unfortunately its the eating that makes me lose weight and even if I ran 12 miles a day for a week I'd probably put on weight!

Littlemisshopefull - I always use up all my syns at the weekend with wine or a bar of chocolate and try only to use about 5 during the week. We need to have our bold things too >:o)

Well I was good today and got a walk in as well. We are going out to dinner tomorrow night after WI but it is to a steakhouse so will probably manage ok. Meeting a friend in a hotel in town for lunch on Tuesday and I'm stuck for that. We only meet every few months as she doesn't live in Dublin. We always meet in this hotel as it is quiet and warm too. It is always sandwiches or paninis we eat. They probably have soup but shur it is probably made with cream or something. really don't know what to do about that meal. Thinking of asking if they could do a salad for me. Would that be very rude?

Down 2lbs at Wi tonight. not too bad but must try harder for next week. Hubby was called in to work this evening so not going out to dinner after all. Was really looking forward to it too but at least it will save me some syns. He won't be back until about midnight or so. :o(

of course you can everhopeful

Do you know full sure you've weight on? If so then I would go out tonight and weigh myself in a chemist just to see that you will have lost weight by next week

SW are very very good if you come back from a break away so don't feel embarrassed about going back. Stay at the meetings and ask the girls for tips and pointers to help you.

Get out tonight and buy the muller lights in tesco and melons in aldi and eat them between all your meals for the next week. Even keep your syns to 5 a day until you get back on track.

You can do it You can do it You can do it! :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll

I think once you get to a class again, it will help motivate you. Hearing other peoples' weight loss gives you hope that you can do it too and you get more in the zone of it when meeting others in the same boat. I never have a problem going to class because it is on in the place we had our wedding reception so I love going back each week and going to the function room again for the happy memories. That alone is a good motivating factor for me. Try and find a goal...a reason why you really want to lose it and take it day by day. Don't think of the final target too much. Best of luck. I don't think we can be mean to you unless you refuse to start and don't go to class. then we might give you a wee kick. :o0
