Depression

Re: Depression

Postby micls » Wed Feb 29, 2022 2:58 pm

Just want to say to anyone who's suffering from depression right now, that I'm thinking of you, and I'm sure many others are too.

Please remember, regardless of how you feel, people you love are never better off without you. You're sick, and your brain is basically tricking you into thinking things like this. I get that it's incredibly hard, and sometimes feels too hard, but please believe me when I say, it's worth it. It's worth it when you get it under control and it no longer controls you.

I don't suffer from depression but I come from a family where it is very prevalent. I watched my teenage sister attempt to commit suicide because she thought the world would be better off without her. Luckily, she was found by coincidence, and survived. Now, 8 years later, she is thriving, she has a loving partner and together they work through the dark times. My mother also suffers from depression and I've been in a hospital told to say goodbye to her, again very luckily she survived against the odds.

So take it from someone on the other side. We're never better off without you, regardless of what your brain tells you at any one time.

Feel better x

I just wanted to echo what micls said. Sandy I read your post yesterday and my heart went out to you. Don't ever forget or underestimate how much your husband loves you and how much both him and your baby need you to be there for them also.

Depression runs through my family and my Dad commit suicide 10 years ago as a result of depression and schizophrenia. You may at times think that people are better off without you but coming from someone who lost their Dad I can tell you our lives were no better without him, no matter how sick he was and how much care and attention he needed. And my Mam's life was torn apart after he died.

I know you are going through a really tough time at the moment but try to remember that there's no way your partner and child would be better off without you - no way at all. You WILL get through this, just keep trying every route possible to help you.

Hope you feel better soon. :action32

Girls, I hope your doing ok-please remember your amazing worthy people who have a lot to offer the world and your friends and family love you. Always remember that love as it will keep you going xxx

I've had a rough few months with depression, low self esteem and anxiety cause of personal problems that were never resolved and reared their ugly head again a few months ago. Top those off with a really stressful job and a boss with very high expectations and my depression and anxiety became bad. I'd a few bad panic attacks with work and took a week off sick to try deal with things. I wanted to get antids as felt I couldn't cope but decided not too. It's been slow but I'm starting to feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel. I found that talking about my issues to people has really helped me-my problem is I keep everything to myself and everything festers until I become very sick. I've been going to counseling and finding that good. Talking about feelings instead of keeping them in.

What dose are u on chick? I'm on 225mg Effexor at the moment. Something that the doctor may not have advised but if you go high (think cleaning the house three times by 7am call doctor straightaway. Don't drive and do not go shopping online or otherwise.

It's just if the anti d's dose is working too well you get manic. Your dose has to be reduced. I doubt that it would happen yet
