Running thread

Hi There ladies,

May I just as,,,,do any of you eat before you run? I'm up to between 5k and 6k at the moment, went for a run this morning and just felt like I had no energy at all, where as when I go for a run in the evenings I never feel like that, even after a days work! So I'm thinking this is because I have a days food and water inside me.

Everybody seems to be a bit different on this one I notice, just wondering what you guys do?

Hi KKcat, yep I find have that problem too!! It's unbelievable the difference in energy levels in the morning v's the night. I'm not sure what the best solution is but I guess keeping hydration levels high would be pretty important so make sure your getting plenty of water in everydayin general. Maybe you could try eat a bananna a half hour or so before your morning run? Not sure how this would fare stitch wise though-keep me posted if you find a solution!

I have sinusitis at the mo so still havn't got back to running but am in the health zone and doing a good bit of walking.

Thanks for that wildone I'll let you know if I find a solution! I think Carbs a good while before i run might be the answer....you read my mind about signing up for a run! I have never run an official event but its my challange for 2012!! will check out living social cheers.

Just starting jogging this week, hoping to conceive for the first time this year and wondering about running if I do get pregnant? How many weeks can you keep running for? If I don't get pregnant this year I'm would really like to do the Dublin marathon, have always wanted to do it!

Hi Secret Bride to be!

I havn't a clue about running while pregnant but Sposa might be the one to ask as she did a marathon recently at 10weeks (if you look back about 2 pages she was talking about it!). I guess the best thing would be to discuss it with your doctor .I would imagine that it would be something that would be grand if you are always running but if you are only taking it up it will be harder on the body and a marathon may be a bit much! A girl ran the NYC (I think) marathon a few months back and gave birth the next day!!!!!

Peonybaby....I've just seen this now. Talk about delayed response.

Yip did a marathon 10 weeks pregnant, went very slowly though. Had been training for over 9 months and after talking with my doc, I said I'd give it a shot but that at any sign of discomfort I would stop immediately. All went well and now we've a gorgeous wee 23-day old daughter. Running definitely helped me put on less weight this pregnancy and I was able to run to 17 weeks.

Went for my first run last Sat and it felt great.

I kept up the running, just finished the couch to 5k and Im fairly good now at running 30 minutes without walking inbetween. I think it was the slow build up which helped me get there. I actually went to Base2Race last night in ballymount to get a gait analysis and a good pair of runners so Im hoping to keep it up long term. Its great that you are back out running Sposa, actually the guy in the shops asked me if I had kids and I said not yet but hopefully! He said the reason he was asking is that as he is now father of a 3 month old he finds running a great exercise because you just run out the door and get it done rather than having to make time to go to the gym and all that messing that can go along with it.

Cant wait to try out my new runners but this rain is a pain, I think I need a better windbreaker or something that I wont mind getting wet in, I dont want to be just a fairweather runner!

Anyone doing the 5mile in the Phoenix park on the 30th June?
I just registered for it today. It part of the Dublin Marathon race series!

I'm signed up too!! Doing well on the threadmill but must get outside for runs again! How's your training going?
