Christmas 2011 Motivation and Weightloss Thread

Postby Newbie B2B » Mon Sep 05, 2022 11:09 am

Well ladies, whether you are trying to lose a few pounds for the big day, or trying to get back your figure from the big day, its 15 weeks until the 19th Dec (aarrggh!) and time to get serious!

I have been struggling the past two years to lose weight I have put on since the wedding and despite a number of 'new starts' have not gotten anywhere and cannot stop eating all around me. None of my clothes are fitting and even though I only have about 1.5 or 2 stone to lose I feel really awful about myself and the heaviest I have been. Its getting to the point where I am nearly in tears going to work in the morning as nothing is fitting me and I hate looking at myself in the mirror.

There are a number of WW and running threads on here which I have dipped in and out of for motivation etc but a lot of these are going for a long time and some have lost a bit of traction.

I wanted to start this thread for anyone out there looking to lose weight between now and xmas and who is really serious about trying to make it happen and motivating others (Doctor Eva style!!)

Whether people are doing it themselves, through weightwatchers/unislim or whatever else, I am hoping this thread will allow a group of us to stay focused and find some support and motivation from each other.

15 weeks at even a pound a week is over a stone and I'm sure most of us would love to get to xmas and part season and be a stone lighter.

My suggestion is for folks to sign up here, say what your goal is by xmas, how you are doing it and then to post here on a weejly basis as openly and honestly as you can on what is going wel, what isnt and hopefully we can all help each other out along the way.

My goal is to lose 1.5 stone by xmas and will be restarting with ww this week (to be told how much I've put on uurrgghh) anyways, onwards from here :) I would like to lose two stone in total but feel the 1.5 stone by xmas is a more realistic goal and do not want to set myself up for failure from the start. I had already started the c25k program and will be going back on that also and trying to get in some other exercise too.

Hope we get plenty of people and lots of motivation! Here is to slimmer, happier fabulous us at xmas!

Best of luck with the weightloss O-O
If it has tyres or testicles it will give you trouble.

Hi Newbie,
I'm starting with Eva Orsmonde clinic this Wednesday so i would't mind joining in here.
I have over 4 stone to lose which I know is going to be difficult but it would be nice to have others to sound off when we are feeling unmotivated or having a bad week.

When are you starting your WW?
I am hoping to get my follow up appointments on a Wednesday or Thursday so we can see how each other is getting on each week.

I hope to get close to 2 stome for xmas so I might just enjoy buying something to wear for the holidays.

I'd like to join in here too please. I want to lose a stone by Christmas. I need to get started back into healthy eating and exercise-I seem to have lost the plot a bit over the last while. Am hoping to start the couch to 5k, hopefully this week. I am going to be realistic, and start at my own pace-if I can only do two days a week or whatever, so be it. Cannot go out the door this evening it is such a bad evening here! So would love to join in and if I go for a pound a week and a general aim to eat healthily, I will be happy. Onwards and downwards..

i'd like to join this one girls. i have put on 10lbs since my wedding in April, for which I was not skinny but was very pleased with my figure. I'd like to aim for a stone by Christmas as well - just need the motivation to start. Think I will try and just tip away at it myself between now and then - should we nominate a weekly weigh-in day to motivate us all?

Good idea!

I've been trying since having my baby at the end of December last year to lose weight. I've managed to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight but still have a lot to lose on top of that. I'd like to lose about 21 pounds more by Christmas (have lost about 30 lbs so far).

I did the Couch to 5K earlier in the year and would highly recommend it. If you have an iPhone get the GetRunning app, its brill. I started trying to run a good few times before but never lasted, this time I have gotten up to the 5k, despite the fact I really struggled to run 60 seconds the first day.

I've ordered the 30 day Shred dvd so hoping that'll arrive soon and I can start doing that. Going to do that for the 30 days as well as run a couple of times a day and hopefully it will all make a difference.

Need to "turn my arse to the table" too though (as my hubbie would say!)

I'd love to join too! I'm getting married at christmas and just back from my holidays so the diet begins today. I'd like to lose 2 stone by christmas ideally.

I weighed in at 13st 10.5lbs this morning but I'm hoping that the half stone I put on in the last two weeks will fall off again pretty fast.

I'm totally determined. Did a 40 min walk today and hoping to start back on the 30 Day Shred tonight if I can squeeze it in.

Feels good to be back in control.

Delighted we have lots of people interested and sounds like everyone is really focused on making it happen!!

I'm trying to find a ww class I can get to around work, or near where I live but am struggling around my current work hours. It looks like I might have to go into town for one this Sat and maybe next week too but hope after that to start going to one on a Tues or Wed. I will do my update around that if thats ok but you guys work away with Tuesday's anyways.

Here's to a great first week everyone!

If people have tips and healthy recipes or things that they are helping them, please let us know too :)

This is great, am looking forward to the chat here. It's not a good evening here, but I am going to make a start on couch to 5k, I'd say I will be 'fast walking' rather than running, but at least it's getting me out there! Glad to hear that others have found it good, I have NEVER done any running-apart from to catch a bus ;o) but I am going to give it a go. Any tips that any of you ladies have would be great. As I said in my previous post, a stone gone by Christmas would make me very happy indeed! I just need to get a grip-I have lost the plot a bit lately!

Polly2011, my biggest tip would be to 'trust' the programme. Every week I used to think how on earth will I run 'x' amount next week if I'm struggling so much with this week, and every week it just 'happened' for me, and I was able to do the next step up.
As I said the getrunning app is brill if you have an iPhone.
I think a positive attitude is half the battle. Every other time I started trying to run I'd spend the whole run telling myself I was knackered and I should just give up, whereas this time I used to say to myself 'are you really that knackered' and 'you can do it' - definitely helped!
