Hi
Just saw your post, did you join Slimming World?? i joined three weeks ago and think it is brilliant. i prefer it to WW, i hated measuring everything and counting points. im already down 16lbs... S:)
Re: slimming world v ww
Wow congrats on the weights loss well done. How does slimming world work?
Re: slimming world v ww
Your allowed to eat all the fruit, veg, meat, Fish, Potatoes, pasta and rice you want...
I couldnt believe i lost 7lb the first week... i have done no exercise... you then get a daily allowance of syns, they can be used for bread, milk, choc, drink etc.... i find going to the meetings and actually staying for them really good... its E9 a week.... some of the girls there have lost 4 stone.... its mad...
Re: slimming world v ww
My mum started in SW and has lost a stone in six weeks. She is thrilled. Nice book they give you with recipes. My only problem with SW is that the presenters are not qualified nutritionists. They are past members that did well on the SW program. I personally prefer to just look at food labels and decide if a product is good for me or not. After a few weeks, you dont even have to look at this. Just my opinion.

That sounds brill
Re: slimming world v ww
I joined slimming world and I've lost 9lbs in 3 weeks. I don't have any experience with WW, but my Mother went and I know its counting everything you eat. With SW, you can eat all the fruit, vegetables, potatoes, rice, pasta, fish, lean meat/poultry/pork, etc you want. They are all classed as Free Foods so you can eat as much as you want without weighing or measuring or counting points. Your also given a daily allowance of dairy (milk, cheese, etc) and fibre (cereals, bread) and then you've 15 Syns a day which you can use any way you like. You can go out and have a drink, have a dinner out on the SW diet and still lose weight. Unlike the WW diet, excercise does not give you anything "extra" like it does on WW. I'd totally recommend it as it feels like your not on a diet. You don't feel deprived of anything as you can have treats with your syns! I had a chinese last week and it didn't effect my weight at the scales! Re: slimming world v ww
Can I ask those of you on SW, would you consider yourselves big drinkers.
The only people i know who have done well on it, wouldnt be big drinkers. I would consider myself a big drinker (which doesnt help my weight loss I know) and couldnt survive on the SW programme. As far as I can remember you were only allowed half a bottle of wine in a day (I would have a bottle on a friday night chilling with H2b) so just felt it didn't work for me. Whereas ww I could save my 49 points for alcohol usage and then earn exercise points to burn it all off. Re: slimming world v ww
I've done WW and I'm not a SW convert! WW is ok to a point. It was a pain restricting myself to leaves when I'd had my points for the day and was still hungry. I lost weight on WW but majorly plateau'ed at a certain weight and couldn't lose anymore. With SW it's totally different. As others have said you can eat as much fruit, veg, lean meats, potatoes, rice, noodles, pasta etc as you want. So I'm never hungry. Only just started though, haven't had a weigh in yet, so time will tell but already my clothes are becoming looser after less than a week! When I was on WW, I never 'saved' points for the weekend. If I did, I found my weight loss was less. This 'saving points' thing just didn't work for me, so had to use my points everyday. Luckily I'm not a big drinker, it's food I'm obsessed with! ![]()
Re: slimming world v ww
I think it totally depends what type of a person you are - for me I need the control element of WW, If you tell me that I can eat all the fruit, veg, rice, poultry etc that I want then I will!!! I will eat and eat and eat - Thats my problem I eat whan I'm not hungry and am very very tempted all the time.
WW gives me the control that I need to keep on track - saying that I was at a wedding on Friday and used my 49 extra points and just let go an enjoyed the day so it will be interesting to see how I am at my weigh in tomorrow night as I've never used the 49 points before However back to my original point! I think everybod knows what their downfall is when it comes to weight - be it overeating, eating the wrong crap or alcohol and I think you should do what suits you best as long as you acknowledge that you gotta change something ![]() Re: slimming world v ww
I wouldn't consider myself a big drinker but since September we've had something on EVERY WEEKEND. And when I go out - I do the dog! I could have 15 Vodkas/Brandy in me in a night - along with shots and I've still lost weight every week at the scales. And that includes the takeaway the next day as I'm too dying to make dinner!! Remember with SW you also have Flexible Syns where you can have 40 syns - which is loads for a night out!
