I've joined Slimming World.
I've lost 4lbs in my first week... Basically the diet allows you to eat as much lean meat (fat cut off), chicken (without skins), potatoes, rice, pasta, fat free yogurts, fruit and veg as you'd like. Your allowed a small allowance of Milk and Bread every day and your also given 15 Syns a day, so you can have a small treat or you can use it as part of your dinner/lunch. You can really eat and eat on this diet and lose weight.. There are lots of people at group who have lost 4 and 5 stone since it started in our community since May! Re: weight loss needed any tips!!!???
My main tip if you're starting out is to track what you're eating. Know how many calories you should be eating and write down everything you do eat and make sure it's right.
There's loads of ways to track, programmes like weightwatchers and slimming world are based on this. I use www.myfitnesspal.org. It's a free website where you can track your food and exercise and work out how many calories you should eat vs how many you are (there are plenty of similar websites, this is just the one I found easiest to use). You'd be shocked by the things you thought were ok that are really high calorie, and things that aren't as bad as you thought. This makes you think about your food choices, you have a certain number a day, and I treat mine almost like money. If I spend 300calories on this tiny bar of chocolate then I can't have xx later. The idea is to weigh up your options, so that your full and satisfied always. The 'cleaner' you eat, the easier it is to stay full and satisfied on a low calorie diet. It also makes you think about portion size. 1 portion of crisps might only be 120cals, but there might be 3 portions in a bag you'd normally scoff without thinking. It's worked for me anyway, and it's worth a shot as it's free. The forums are very good for ideas and motivation. It's more about changing your eating habits, than dieting as such. Good luck ![]()
Re: weight loss needed any tips!!!???
I definitely agree with micls. I use myfitnesspal too (ok, only on weekdays when I'm being good!) and it's so handy. It's amazing when you see how much calories etc that some foods have. Example - Supernoodles... now I always knew they weren't gonna be great for me or a low fat option but one pack is about 600 cals ..... so now I just don't buy them cos they are defo not worth that!
Another thing is portion control. With things like pasta it's better to weigh them out and know how much you are actually eating. I don't do this at the moment (no weighing scales) but it's very easy to throw in a load of pasta and then just eat it cos it's there instead of measuring it out and knowing how much cals are in what you are eating. Another tip - home made soups for lunch! All that's in them is veg and stock usually with some herbs etc.... much less salt than any other pre made ones and they fill you up more. Re: weight loss needed any tips!!!???
more proteins, less carbs, healthier meals, eat more often (5times a day) so you need to plan your meals, and of course is not 5 big meals, means having snacks between main meals, nuts or blueberries are great options... and weight training!
