...I could do with the help and motivation!! Im doing the 17 day diet. I fell off the wagon recently so Im firmly back on it since yesterday morning.

Im currring out all carbs....
drinking 2 litres of water....
exercising 17 minutes each day....
Weighing myself every morning....
two actimel a day....
two apples (before 2pm)....
lots of protein, veg and salad....

The difference in my tummy already is amazing.

If anyone is starting off any diet out there and wants to buddy with me please do. We can keep each other going. I want to lose 2 stone.

hellothere, I was on a no carb diet for a few months and lost loads, the problem with it was that anytime I went for drinks or ate 1 piece of bread I would put a half a stone on! So I couldn't sustain it.

TMI but I also got really bad piles out of it.

I put on about a stone in the last 2 months and tried the no carb again and lost nothing! So I've changed over to just healthy eating with good carbs.

I notice you are eating fruit and yogurt which has huge amount of carbs in them. Berries like strawberries, rasberries and yogurt like greek have less carbs if you switched over to them?
Also Aldi do an 80% dark chocolate which is really low in carbs too if you fancy somthing sweet.

Anyway good luck with your diet and keep us posted on the weight loss.

mrssunflower - have you any other tips for low carb & low fat snacks? I am trying to cut back on crisps etc so have been stocking up on fruit and yoghurt and only recently realised how much carbs are in fruit and things like cup a soups...need ideas for low carb stuff, but preferable not just meat!

be careful with low fat labels as most things add carbs if they take out the fat.

Some low carb snacks

Strawberries
Blueberries
Rasberries
1/2 grapefruit you can add some sweetner if you like
Rubarb
low fat jelly
80% or higher dark chocolate - in moderation
cheese cubes
ham slices with cream cheese
cottage cheese and tomato wedges
mushrooms done in the oven or microwave - really juicy
a couple of tablespoons of greek yogurt
boiled eggs mashed with a bit of butter

When I was doing low carb generally if you keep below 20g carbs a day you were ok. My advice would be to sign up to caloriecount website to track the carb content.

Sorry for hijacking!!

Crikey - less than 20g of carbs a day?! :eek I (not religiously) use myfitnesspal to track my calories but it allows you 165 of carbs....one granny smith apple has 21g of carbs and the yoghurts I eat are low fat but have 21g of carbs!! I don't think low carb is something I'd be able for by the looks of things! :o0

hello, hellothere lol.

Glad you are losing weight, diets tend to do that ;-).

To optimize your results how about doing 2 x 17 mins a day exercise?
Stop weighing yourself everyday, it will drive you nuts. How about the same day/time before breakie once a week?
Not sure what good the actimel is, how about natural yogurt with some fruit?
Instead of 2 apples, have one and another green fruit?

Lots of protein/veg and salad. Now thats a winning formula. I have just gone from 27% bodyfat to 12% in 2 months eating 5 small meals a day.

I hope you find some of my points helpful.

Hiya

How's the diet going?

Was in the local libarary over the weekend and this book was sitting on the counter! So of course I borrowed it and have been reading it non stop!
Funnily its actually the same diet I've been trying to stick to, well I've been kidding myself over the last few weeks and still been eating bad things.

Its good because its not no carb, its low carb and plenty of protein, fruit and veg which is basically healthy eating.

So I"m on day 2 if you are still doing it? Not going to weigh in if I can help it until Friday morning as thats when I've a weigh in on another thread.

I'm having natural or greek yogurt not an actimel, really its down to the price and the natural yogurt is cheaper!

Found a great forum you might be interested in too?

I'm half way through reading the phase 1 thread and its great for motivation

Hi

What day are you on now? Did you start back on day 1?
Have you done the other phases yet?

I'm on day 4 today (well 4.5! as I started half way through sunday), going grand so far, just finding it hard not reaching for an apple at 4pm

Also in the evenings I'm still hungry after my chicken and veg and it takes about 30 mins afterwards to feel full. I can so see how I was over eating before.

Dragged myself down to the gym last night, I was so tired but just done some walking on the treadmill. Better than sitting at home eating.
I'll weigh myself in the morning to see what I'm down. I'm on another thread too but I actually had 1.5lbs on starting this on sunday so my too weight losses are gonig to be different.

My face has totally cleared of my spots too
Have you made any of the receipes in the back of the book?

Hi there!!!

Weighed again this morning and down two pounds!!!! So over the moon.

Im still on phase 1 and have not done the other phases at all. Hence the rapid weight loss.

You are doing well - keep going. If you are hungry do what I do - have water or some green tea and then decide to eat. If you go to the kitchen hungry you will have bread!!! (or maybe thats just me!)

I havent made any of the receipes. just going with the foods I know. Im going shopping this evening after work so going to pick up some more nice fruit and veg.

The one thing about this diet that I really like is that you can break it for a function or life event and it doesnt do much damage once you get back on it again. Its just great.

Just made chicken with garlic, cumin, paprika and pepper in the oven with some stir fry veg fried in chicken stock and spray oil. It was yummy!

Have a business lunch tomorrow so I've already checked their online menu and the only choice I can take is a sauted chicken with garden veg. Everything else was rice or deep fried dishes. Its an asian place so they shouldn't over do it on the oil with the chicken.

Going to drag myself down to the gym tonight, not fit for much so I'll probably only do the 20 mins walk and come straight home!

Day 4 over so onwards to day 5 (I'm 11 hours ahead of you!) Good luck today
