Seriously??? SERIOUSLY?? people on this topic have REAL problems, not solved by a glass of flipping water. Go off and spam somewhere else you waste of space. Jesus if only my depression was cured by your "helpful" suggestions.
Go flip yourself

Now now, Sandyclaws, apparently it's only two thirds of a glass. I wish I had seen this earlier, it would have made the last few years much easier.

No, no, wait. I normally try most of this when I have a slight cold. What horrible bullshit! >:o( O:| >:o(

Am ignoring the idiot above. O:|

To stay on topic, I suffer from depression. I honestly don't think you can ever be "cured"... you can get better and the signs disappear, but I think you're always susceptible to it, if that makes sense? I've suffered from depression since my mid teens, but only admitted it around 4/5 years ago. I went to GP, went on anti depressants.... these needed to be changed a few times until I got the right dose/brand etc... They did help a little and I think that's because they serve a very important purpose (addressing the chemical imbalance). But it wasn't until I went to counselling that I finally started to see things shift. I stayed with the same counsellor for over 2 years. Thought I was "cured" etc.... but have had the worst spell over the last two weeks that I've had in all my life. So it's back to my GP and am starting a new counsellor on Monday. Happy Days.... Like the others, I am very high functioning most of the time and 99.5% of people don't have a clue that I'm depressed, never mind in counselling/on anti depressants etc... The trouble is, when it hits me... it just knocks me for six. Moral of my story is that it's a combination of meds and talk therapy that helps (me at least).

Angelbutterfly sorry to hear your not feeling good at the moment. Hope it gets better for you soon. A lot of your story rings true for me. I'm going through a bad bout at the moment and finding it hard to come out of it. My depression started when I was 11 and every few years I get a bout of it. But this time it's really bad and I took a week off work last week as I couldn't face it. For the first time ever I'm contemplating going to the doc to get antidepressants even though I don't want to go down that road. I had a few bad panic attacks recently which scared me. I went to a counsellor three years ago and that really as the best thing for me to do, it helped me understand myself more and accept me and my issues. I'm going to one again in the next few weeks so hopefully they'll be able to refocus my negative thoughts and get me back onto the road to recovery. Good luck with your therapy x

I spent a while on anti-depressants, have to say I found them great. They allowed me to feel "normal" again while I worked on my negative thought processes, and then once I came off them I didn't want to lose that feeling of normal/happy and almost forced myself to continue feeling that way (if that makes sense?). Have been feeling not right (for want of a better description) for the last while, between college, wedding, TTC and lots of other things I've just gotten worn down. I've noticed that I have been falling back into some of my old behaviour patterns but I am determined not to need to go back on the meds (though I will if I have to) and am trying to change my behaviours, especially with exercise (I'd forgotten the natural high working out can give you). I hate when people make light of this type of illness, or come out with sh!te like that idiot above. I really feel for you girls having a hard time, I hope it gets easier for you soon :action32
