How can you...

How can you...

Postby gealltanas » Thu Nov 10, 2021 12:10 am

...drop roughly two stone in a matter of days by sitting on your bum and eating pasta?!

Nah I'm joking, I fully understand the 'do more, eat less' only way to weight loss approach. Problem is, I'd rather 'do less, eat more'. Particularly if it's more chips ;o)

Anyone else a big lazybones too? Any words of wisdom to spur me onto the spinning bike (the most boring tormented hour of my week, possibly my whole life) or will I soon have to fork out on new good jeans? (seeing as my nice posh jeans were about to literally cut me in half at work today - like being attacked by a length of piano wire I swear to god I never experienced the BATE of it)

If you find out please let me know! I have found with exercise if you dont enjoy it you wont do it. You will think of excuse after excuse not to go. If you hate spinning try something else. Jogging, swimming, rebounding, zumba, join a football or basketball team, salsa or hiphop dancing... there must be something you would like to do. I find exercising with a group way easier than doing it on my own, stops me giving up the minute I break into a sweat.

Definitely get up and do the exercise! You dont want to have to throw away those posh jeans! ;o)

I have mixed feelings reading your post. If only life for so easy, we would all have six packs torsos. Alas, its not, so respect to all those with chiseled mid sections.
I have never had my one hour spinning class called boring, so would like to know what is it about it that bores you? As quite rightly suggested, get off your backside and do something that you really are into and will continue to do.
My final point is this, your are investing in your future health with every hour you spend exercising. You want to hit old age able to tackle life, have good posture, walk briskly and have a spring in your step as you are collecting your hard earned pension. Please consider this as you wonder how to fit into those jeans with minimal effort.... take a walk through the front door and come thru the back door of your local hospital. I hope this makes your realise that its great to be alive, six foot above ground and that your health really is your wealth.
Best of luck with whatever training you decide to do.

Regards
Michael

Dear Michael,

I am an occupational therapist and I can sincerely assure you that I am extremely familiar with the connection between lifestyle, health and wellbeing - I spend much of my day lecturing student therapists on this! I had intended to debrief you on my lifestyle, current BMI and medical history, but realised that is actually noones business!

I have to be honest and say that I found your messages a bit patronising, given my professional background and given the fact that I was actually only messing. If exercise was always accompanied by such dire health warnings, I'd be as depressed as anything anytime I approached the gym!!

LAUGHTER is in fact super duper essential to your health! Let's have a giggle :hyper:
