Re: Spinning
I'd say that's probably fairly normal for your first spinning class. Spinning is so tough that I'm actually afraid to go at the moment in case I keel over! It burns 700 calories an hour or something though...so it's probably worth it.
Re: Spinning
Hi Ladies,
great to read you got through your spin class. May I be bold and offer some advice as a qualified spin instructor for over six years now. (1) no matter what the instructor says, always remember you are the boss and adjust the "cadence" ie. resistence on the bike to suit your experience and fitness levels. (2) Pace yourself. On a scale 1 to 10, 10 being exhausted, get to number 8 by the end of the class and you know you have played your part well. (3) never gauge your efforts on others in the class. (4) Remember how you felt for the five days after the first spin class and after a few months look back and realise that the magic is happening with your fitness level. (5) One of my one hour classes burns 800 cals. That means over the next 24 hours you will have burnt off 3200cals. thats nearly one pound in body weight. Thats why I see better results in spin than any other weight loss class I have every thaught. Best Regards Michael mypt.ie Re: Spinning
How are the legs now? I'd think it's fairly normal to be sore after it.
I defo agree with Michael about spin. I've been doing it for over a year now and I still find it tough. Like Michael said, take the resistance at your own pace! This is why I get a bike down the back! No seriously, take it at your own pace, don't kill yourself either. I have dodgey knees and therefore cannot sometimes do the uphill climb seated at resistance 20!!! If I'm in any way tired (4hrs sleep the other night with one of the kids being sick/awake kind of lark!) it's harder. In a 45mins class, I would burn about 600-700cals depending on how hard I pushed myself. Re: Spinning
Thanks guys for all the advice, legs were still sore but did do my 1 hour walking on monday and tuesday, so heading back again to night to spinning, thought i was gonna pass out the first night but deffo not going to turn the thing when she says because i think that's what killed me, gonna do it at my own pace,
Micheal quick question is it burn 800 cal in one class? what did you mean over the 24hours im only doing it once a week ![]() ![]() [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: Spinning
you will think I am crazy, however I have always found that the quickest way to get over stiffness from too much exercise is more exercise, perhpas less strenuous like swimming or walking. ibuprofen and vitamin c helps too and loads of water.
when i first started spinning, I could not belive how tortureous it was and I was coming from a level of reasonable fitness. It gets easier and soon you start to get a real adreneline rush from it. I still prefer running outdoors however its a great form of exercise. Re: Spinning
Just reading your question now, forgive me. You will burn 800 kcals in a typical 60 min class.Your metabolic rate is stocked up for the next 24 hours, hence you will burn 3200 kcals over that time. Thats why for weight loss, this class is king. Are you still spinning? Regards michael. Re: Spinning
