Couch 2 5k

Re: Couch 2 5k

Mismatch just take things slowly and steady. For me around 8 mins is my hump but once I get over that it doesn't matter if you run for 10 or 20 mins. You just need to push yourself to get over that and then you'll be fine. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll get on grand.

Curlysu hope you had a great wknd. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself. I'm sure you get on grand with day 3 if you try.

How is everyone else doing?

Thanks GW,

I completed it this morning, was so tired as the wee man woke up at 5am, so I was making all the excuses in the world not to get up & stay in bed with him, but then he got sick all over my bed, so I had to get up.

Really glad that I done it, found the last 5 mins hard & thought it would never end. Haven't looked at week 6 yet to see what's in store for me.

Curly su hope you had a fab weekend & don't be worrying about the gain, sure your allowed it on your Hen.
I was close to giving up the running on week 4 but battled through, keep going, we can do it!

GW well done on the 5k run, I'm doing the mini marathon this year & would love to jog it, but not sure how my old knees would hold up on the tarmac. But at least this is all good training for it

Well done ladies, you are all doing brilliant.

Hi girls, just started this last night. Nearly collapsed after it! Will do second one tomorrow.

For those who are well into it, where have you noticed the most change in your body toning wise?

Hi VIC

Since I've started I've lost 12lb & feel toned in the legs. But I am also doing weight watchers & watching everything I eat. Best of luck with the running. I'm on week 6 now & have really enjoyed it so far. The advise on this thread is excellent, I prob would have given up on week 4 if it wasn't for it.

Good luck

Vanilla, i notice the change in my calves, they're starting to get a bit more toned, and then funnily enough my top half, i seem to be loosing around the bust & waist....but not the tummy...yet anyway :innocent:
I'm on week 7 now, but like Mismatch, I'm doing WW at the same time, have lost about 8lb

Welcome mrs2be2012 and vanilla ice cream, it gets easier so stick with it and you'll be grand. And if you need encouragement just come here and we'll help you through it. I've just started week 8 and I never thought I'd get this far.
I think running is great, you definitely feel great afterwards and I find it great for toning. I've lost 8lbs so far, and dropped a dress size. And I've definitely noticed my thighs have toned up. I still have a bit of a belly but like curlysu I'm hopeful that it's gonna go! Fingers crossed

Hi girls,

I completed couch 2 5k around 2 months ago now and I am still trying to keep it up three days a week on the road. I used to really struggle with it in the first few weeks! I didn't notice much difference in terms of weight loss or toning up until week 6 or 7 when so many people at work commented that I had lost weight. I seemed to tone up my thighs and got rid of the love handles even though I wasn't really watching what I was eating that much but didn't over do it with sugary foods or alcohol. My bra's are fitting better and I am getting into clothes that I use to wear a few years ago.

I never thought I would be able to complete it but each week it gave me such a good feeling to be able to move on to the next challenge..I found that I really feel more energetic and more positive in general so it is definitely worth doing if only for that!! My h2b goes running with me and I honestly wonder if I would be able to complete runs on my own. Perhaps try to get someone to to it with you. I must try to eat a bit better now. My aim is to try the 10 k challenge next - its addictive! And I could barely run for a few minutes before I started it and was so unfit!

Keep it up girls! You can do it! :wv

Just completed my 1st 25 min run. Feel great having completed it. Only getting a chance to get to the gym twice a week, so its taking me longer to complete the challenge but I'm getting there.

Was down 1.5lb in ww today & have a full stone off since Xmas, delighted with that!

Hi girls! I just finished week 2 day 1! Feel great - now, not this morning when I had to get up early!
Found this thread great for tips and motivation so I will post here in case anyone else is thinking of doing it.
They have running gear in Lidl on Thursday. It's meant to be v good quality if anyone is looking for some.
Found the 90sec runs fine, actually easier that the 60sec runs last week. I must be fitter already!
Aim is to do 5k by start of may and bring this up to 9/10 k for the mini marathon in June!

Hi girls, glad to hear you're all doing so well, well done on the weight loss mismatch, a stone gone, thats brilliant.

Havent been very good now at all the last week, have only done one day of week 8 and at that i had to stop twice during the run. Feeling very run down and tired :zzzz: the last few weeks so kinda decided to take a rest for a few days. been eating like a horse all weekend too which hasnt helped either :o0
so i've bought myself Floradix and have tried to cut back on my eating (not too good though) and i'm going to try and get back running tomorrow or thursday. i'm sure everyone has there off weeks so i probably just need a rest and then i'll be alright again

Blue2012 i must get down to lidl, i need some new running gear, thanks for the tip.
hope you're both feeling better soon curlysu and wednstyle, take care of yourselves
