Couch 2 5k

Re: Couch 2 5k

Postby Mismatch » Tue Jan 24, 2022 1:26 pm

Oh my god girls, just tried to do week 4, which is 3min run, 90sec walk 5min run. It nearly killed me, just about done it the first time but the second time I had to stop & walk to catch my breath.

Will try & do it again thurs but reckon I will be repeating this week. God its tough

On a happier note I went to ww & I'm down a half pound , i know its not much but I did get a silver 7 for it so happy with that.

Hope ye lot are getting on better at the running than me :-)

Thanks Ginger. My appointment got cancelled so went to the gym again and did 30 mins of run 2 mins walk 2 mins and it went well. Hoping to do the gym a few more nights this week and get outdoors at the weekend as it's tougher but the half marathon I'm doing also happens to be outdoors!! :)

A tip I remember I to last year was to really slow down on week 4 and 5. I used to be barely going faster than a walk. I found it easier to keep going even though was embarrassed at first going so slow. Might help ye struggling with week 4.

good point on week 4 belcra, i'll keep that in mind, i'm starting it on monday

question about WW for ye girls, I just signed up to WW online, as there are no meetings in my area that i could get to- i finish work at 6:30pm, and most meeting start at 6. Have any of ye tried the online version ? What did ye think ?

Hey girls did week 4 day 1 today and although I found it tough I completed it without stopping. Took your advice belcra and slowed it down. It definitely let me jog that bit longer. Delighted with myself. I couldn't get the 5mins the last time.

Sorry curlysu I've never done ww so I'm no help there, my mam and sister do it but go to the classes. Think they are really there to advise you on what foods to eat and how to use the points the best. I've heard my sister saying she gets more advice from the others doing ww than from the leader herself

Yay Ginger - glad it went well!

Doing well too. Did 40 mins in the gym and finding it easy. Got my personal trainer tomorrow night and back appointment Friday. Hoping to move on to week 5 of my 10k program at the weekend and hopefully will succeed outside. It's 46 mins long wich is longer than the c25k but shorter stints of running.

Haven't done ww in years curlysu - I prefer low carbs myself. Good luck with week 4 on Monday.

Well come cupcakebabe, good luck with the run tonight.

I didn't make it back to the gym after my awful attempt tuesday, but will take on the advise of slowing the running speed down & try again.

THis week has been a bit hectic, have my sons christening tomorrow so with trying to organise that & get the house cleaned for the afters I haven't had a chance to go back to the gym, but hoping to go back again tues & get back into it.

Hi Ladies :wv :wv :wv

I started this C25KM back before xmas
I was doin great on the threadmill, got to the middle of Week 3 and then it lost its novelty
But I am determined to get back into it and complete the course :o)ll :o)ll
I have signed up to the Operation Transformation Fun Run in Pheonix Park on Feb 18th with my fiance and we are doing it with his best man and his other half so it will be a fun day
I was power walk 5km in 35 mins but I would like to be able to do some/most of it through a jog if possible so I am going to try my best to get there
My wedding is May 2013 so I am planning on getting into the exercise now and have the weight down well before the wedding so at least the stress of losing weight will be 1 thing off my mind O:o)
Best of luck to all doing it O-O

Room for another one? Thanks Belcra for pointing me in the direction of this thread :thnk

Last day smoking for me here, polishing off the last of the cake in the fridge and making a few minor dietary adjustments that we've already started but fitness is my major goal, am horribly unfit and can't even run upstairs anymore :-8 :o(
Between our wedding next year and our referral to the fertility clinic I figure the best thing I can be doing for myself right now is getting as fit and healthy as possible, and I have an awful habit of starting with the best intentions and then fizzling out after a month or so, so I will be hoping that by joining this thread you guys can give me a kick up the ar$e when needed and I'll stay motivated! :-8

Glad you joined us hippychic! Saw on the other thread that you have access to the app. Hard part is to get started - it's really easy and week one only has you running for a minute at a time - just go barely faster than walking and you'll get there. I've done it before but injured myself so back to not quite square one but close enough. What I like about the app is the structure and it becomes a challenge to do each run! Enjoy it!!

Good luck stopping smoking!

welcome hippychick, cupcakebabe & MrsWalsh2Be !! Hope ye're finding it manageable !

I started week 4 this morning, and i was surprised that i was actually able to finish it ok !! Now i was going really really slowly, like belcra said, so maybe thats why.

Its really funny, i've made friends with 2 bin-men in the park i run in - I'm the only one cracked enough to be running around there at 7am ! I was worried at the start about running around a park in the half dark, so i made sure to say hello to them, with the idea that if some maniac axe-murderer tried to run away with me, they'd try and save me :-8 This morning they were very encouraging, telling me i was doing way more running than at the start :o0

Oh wow curlysu that's deadly, nice to have a bit of encouragement from strangers! At this stage you could probably outrun the axe-murderer anyway :o0

Day 2 off the smokes today, going to start the C25K when I'm off them a week or my lungs will actually fall out. Brought the dog on a power walk this morning, none of my usual ambling, went out to work up a sweat and increase my heart rate. Will keep that up until I start running next week.
