Hi LadyGaGa
I started in exaclty the same situation as you about two years ago. Dropped two stone and have managed to keep most off. I still have a bit to loose and would like to do it sooner rather than later as don't want to be worrying about my weight on the run up to my big day.

If I could give you advice it would be this. Start small but have a plan. As in aim to go for a half an hour walk. Jog for one minute out of every five (walk for 4, jog for 1) and do this 6 times. It will feel like death at the begining but the results are worth it and at least it's only a minute. You can gradually increase your time jogging as you go along and even your walk time.

Also I can't stress how valuable some form of weight training or resistance training is to loosig weight, the more muscle mass the body has the more effectively your body will process the food you intake. Obviously food is a major issue to loosing weight but don't start cutting out everything you like from your diet and saying that you are not having anything as you will eventually start hating what you are doing and that will make you want to stop. Start with little changes like not having crisps with lunch or having 1 biscuit instead of 2 with your tea. All of these things will stand to you.

I'm not saying to start going crazy but if you could even do 10 sqats, 10 lunges, 10 press ups and 10 tricep dips when you get back from your walk it will really stand to you and doesn't take ages. you can slowly start doing two and three sets of this and then increase your reps and add in some stomach exercises and so on.

Most important thing is to sod everyone else, you are doing this for you and who gives a s**t if other people think you look silly. You'll feel great, especially when you start seeing the results. Best of luck :)

Thanks CurlySu and ShoeCrazy Bride.

SCB they are great words of encouragement, thanks so much. I am pretty much in the zone now re walking and diet. Trying to find a second hand treadmill and will do the running on that for the first couple of months until my fitness builds up a bit and the evenings get bit brighter.

One thing I have never done at home is actually exercises, like you say squats lunges etc so that is something I really must start. DH is onboard too which is a great help.

Awh delighted that i could help. Great that DH is on board, so much easier when you have someone who you can do it with. The exercises at home do really make a difference.

I tried all kinds of crazy diets, even did the lipotrim one and the best was just eating better and the exercising. The exercises at home are brill cause you are toning aswell. The lunges are great for the backs of the legs, you can't beat them

LadyGaga - how are you getting on?

How do you know what speed the treadmill should be set at?
